rage 24 Report post Posted March 31, 2010 Thought after 4 goals that Babs might have let Ozzie make a start, but he just said it's Howard again. Can't argue really since we ARE winning. 1 Zeowingsfan reacted to this

Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted March 31, 2010 Tonight the entire Wings team screwed up on those Oilers goals. It's not like the D and forwards were playing tight hockey and Howie let 4 softies in.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted March 31, 2010 No goalie plays lights out every game.. it was a difficult game tonight for Howie. I see nothing wrong with keeping him in there.

FireCaptain 563 Report post Posted March 31, 2010 (edited) Since the magic number appears to be 3 - 5 points, (3pts for a 99% chance, 5 pts for a guaranteed playoff spot) I could see riding Jimmeh until the spot is locked in and then riding Ozzy the rest of the way - potentially 3 starts. Unless a favorable matchup position is on the line and then I could see the team just riding Jimmeh all the way into the playoffs. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted March 31, 2010 Howie gave up a couple bad goals. Giving up an unscreened five-hole goal from the top of the circle is weak. Enough of this s***, though. Babcock needs to play Osgood. Yes, Howard has had a much better season. But at the same time, we are one injury away from going into the playoffs playing a goaltender who hasn't seen a start in over 25 games. Granted, he's been the best clutch goaltender in the NHL over the past two seasons, so I would be fully confident if that happened, but do we really want to risk that kind of rust? 1 Zeowingsfan reacted to this
bdavis 28 Report post Posted March 31, 2010 Wow, I figured Ozzie would have a shot after the Edm game. 1 rage reacted to this

Presently, the Red Wings need as many points as possible to secure a playoff spot and need the best players on the ice to do that. Playoffs, while more probable, are still not a guarantee. I'd love to see Osgood in but PRESENTLY, Howard gives the Wings that best option right now in goal, whether it is fair to Osgood or not. When/if they secure a spot, I'd be shocked if Osgood didn't see a game or two. Wouldn't surprise me if he played 1 of the 2 back-to-back games this weekend if the Wings win Thursday. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And please nobody give me anything about Howard wearing out until he suggests or shows that he is wearing out.
