Ozzie hides when backing up

Has anyone else noticed that Ozzie seems to be hiding ever since he has become the clear cut backup. Usually the backup goalie hangs out on the bench/hallway near equipment manager Paul Boyer and charts the shots during the game. The backup also usually comes out on the ice with the rest of the players after the game to congratulate the winning goalie. I have been to a couple of home games recently and have noticed that Ozzie does not stand on the bench or come out to congratulate Howard after a victory. I have read nothing but positive quotes from Babcock and Howard about how great of a teammate and mentor Ozzie has been for Howard but I am very surprised that he is not being a team player. Even Hasek let his ego go during the 2008 playoff run when he was diminished to a backup role. He continued to be great in practice and sit on the bench and support Ozzie and the rest of his teammates on their run to the cup. I am disappointed in Ozzie and feel that he is being a bit selfish. What are your thoughts?

Ya it's been brought up. He watches the games from the room. Doesn't seem like a big deal and he seems like he is there for Howard, very supportive.

It seems like every time the camera pans over to him, he is talking to Piet or Bowyer. But everytime Howard gets interviewed, he talks of how Ozzie is supportive and a good team mate. I honestly haven't read into it, like he is hiding out and being a poor sport.

I doubt it's an issue or Babcock would have dealt with it.

If it was an issue, Osgood would either be sitting on the bench or Babcock would have said something to the media. He's not really shy when he discusses his goaltenders with them.

Nobody seems to have a problem with it on the team, Osgood seems to support Howard, it's not a distraction. Not worth reading between the lines into unless we hear something otherwise, which I doubt we will.

I think it's good to see the back up goalies on the bench being part of the team, but Ozzie has been in that role all season. He is supportive I'm sure like we've heard from the team. All that really matters is that he's ready to go in if and when he's needed.

no he waits till everyone else on the team congrats him and then goes and talk to him while hes skating off the ice. they always show it on FSD

Now that you mention it, I do seem to remember him doing that.

Yea, I also have seen him skating up to Howard after everyone else congratulates him... I wouldn't be too worried, Ozzie seems like a down to earth kind of guy and I doubt he would let his ego ruin the team that gave him 3 Stanley cups...

He should be on the bench with the team in my opinion, Ozzie's backup is always on the bench, supporting the team and showing leadership. With all the Rings he has, he should be kicking Bertuzzi's ass on the bench whenever he makes a bad pass and spurring on any other guy who doesn't have a ring.

Is this a recent development? I seem to recall Ozzie going out to congratulate Howard all the time, but I admit I haven't noticed lately.

As wing1110 has stated, he congratulates him after everyone else does.
