It's only happend once....54 years ago when there were only 6 teams in the league. Montreal and Detroit made the finals from 1954-1956.

Interesting. Makes sense for the original 6 (only 4 made the playoffs). It's really hard to imagine with 30 teams!

He meant only 4 made the playoffs back when there were only 6 teams in the league, so making it to the Finals 3 years in a row was a heck of a lot more likely.

He didn't mean that only 4 of the Original 6 teams made the playoffs this year....although, that's true.

Edit: at least I think that's what he meant.

The "rematch" if any is gonna be Wings/Devils to settle the debate! Pens out first round...

This.

I predict a Red Wings/Devils Finals.

Last season the Pens beat a completely injured and tired Red Wings team that wasn't even trying to win games only by a single goal in a Game 7. Somehow I think a healthy and motivated Wings team (like we have now) would close out that series in 6 or less.

You guys have no faith in the wings. I'd play pens in the final any day.

Yeah if we're healthy we win. Getting out of the West healthy is going to be TOUGH however.

Agreed! I think a rubber match would be excellent! Bring it on!

Exactly, I not only would "not be afraid" of it, but would prefer it... it'd be nice to send them off with a bad taste in their mouths

All I have to say about Holland and our off-season:

Here in this thread

Here in this one as well

Here in this one too

Holland is a damn good GM. period.

it would be nice to beat the pens in the SCF this year, but their 2nd round exit against the caps is gonna kill any chance of that.

What I still want to know is why the hell all those Wings fans at the Joe stayed and watched that gayporn fest.....

Same reason all the pens fans stayed and watched ours.. they never got to see it live before.

The way Z was talking about that game seven loss, I don't think he or anyone else on the team would let it slip out from under their grasp again, especially against the Pittsburgh crybabies. I would look forward to best out of three for the cup to see who's better. Eff 'em.
