I don't even know where to begin on this beauty.

Detroit’s Defense (includes defending in transition) vs Coyotes offense

This is going to be interesting to see how Detroit Head Coach Mike Babcock handles the Coyotes offense. I’m thinking that he’s going to do it in one of two ways:

1) Pressure the puck carrier when the Coyotes are in their offensive zone

Incredible defensive philosophy.

One tendency I noted after watching the last 1 1/2 months of Red Wings games is that if you keep them pinned in their defensive zone consistently they will wear down and make mistakes. But then again, this can also be said about most every other team in the league too.

Truly fascinating.

All in all, D for effort for this in-depth masterpiece.

So basically what it all comes down to is whoever scores the most goals wins.

I just imagined Bettman from your avatar stating that as a question - it made me snicker :3

Some things in the article are true - I *do* think the number one thing for Howie is absorbing those shots and avoiding rebounds - but really, if the Wings play like the Wings, they'll be fine.

Tomas Holmstrom and Todd Bertuzzi.

The Coyotes cannot allow these two any breathing room at any point in this series. They are just too dangerous of playmakers and scorers to be allowed to do anything on the ice. They have to be the #1 (or at least one of the top) targets of the Phoenix Coyotes game plan. Tie their stick up at all times when they move in front of Bryz.

This is hilarious... No mention of Datsyuk, Z or Franzen. Haha I'm just picturing the Yotes putting someone to shadow Homer and Bert and leaving Dats + Franzen and Z + Flip do what they want.

Whoever wrote that obviously knows everything about hockey. Heck, they should coach the Yotes since they know so much about the Wings. That would assure them victory!

Did the Yotes become an offensive team overnight? Wow. That is just terrible.

I love how confident the guy is. Dave Tippet is a very good coach but apparently no love is shown to Babs and his Cup ring and gold medal.

In a way you are correct.....

But let's sat Team A wins game 1 5-0 and Team B wins games 2, 3, 4 & 5 by 1-0 scores, Team B wins the series but Team A scored more goals....

In the early years on hockey, most goals in the series WERE a deciding factor.

Aren't most pre game shows and post game summaries meaningless based on this?

It's usually the same talk anyway.

Yes. Pretty much all sports talk is generic and meaningless.

"Well, we just have to shoot the puck/ball more."

"We just have to want it more."

"We just have to keep pushing and not let up."

Doesn't that about sum up all commentary on all sports?
