Wings had the 8th lowest goals against in the league this season. The defense last year was bad because they were relying on offense. This year it's been pretty good overall.

you can add also that 1st half of the season they were due to known reasons very poor on D, yet they finised strong in D related statistics.

This has nothing to do with Jimmy Howard standing on his head all season, including the playoffs?

Isnt he up for the Calder just for that reason?

Lets look at the facts objectively, our D has been bad and definatly not play off caliber for a few years. I love Lids and company, but they are not good right now. Its time to upgrade.

While I agree that we should have scored, it was moreso Brzygalov and some unlucky bounces rather than a lack of effort.

It was some unlucky bounces, but I also feel like the Wings should've had two guys planted just outside the crease the whole time. I think Homer was in his usual spot, but otherwise players kept sort of flying by the net, and the timing never worked out. They should've been outnumbering guys down low.

Yes, of course he was very good this season. But so was the team defense.

Yes he could. In my opinion, the only reason we lost the cup last year was because of him and his turnovers in games 6 + 7. And here he is, doing it again.
First goal was because he couldnt shuffle the puck up the boards and instead turned it over. Their 4th goal was because he dicked around holding onto the puck too long after the faceoff and not passing it or clearing it fast enough, which caused PHO to hold it in the zone in the first place. THEN he turns it over again and gives them another gem of an opportunity to get another goal...

Yes, because we have so many quality defensemen waiting in the wings. Lebda or Meech are the answer. Yep.

Agreed. Booing is really pathetic, I don't care what the score is, I'd never boo my own side.

People forget there is a Game 7. We lose that one, then people can go mental. Yeah we'll lose this stupid game today, but there IS another oppertunity.

I'd rather them boo like Red Wings fans that care, than hear them silent like a Raptors crowd that doesn't really give a f***.

You are correct. The blame is to be spread, not just piled on Flip. But, if you the watched his fantastic play in the 1st, then his play in the 2nd, the contrast is very noticable. Just wondering where 1st period Flip went.

they took a shot and went for the rebound thats not how you run a 5 on 3.

how big of a difference would this game be if we scored 1 or 2 on the PP?
