Guest DatsyukianDeke13 Report post Posted April 26, 2010 It was funny because on CBC today during the Canucks - Kings game, Sammy missed the net and the announcer said "Samuelssen misses the net, which is rare for him". I lol'd. I wish we could have kept him and Huds. The only reason I hold a grudge is because the thought process was we were going to keep either Hossa or Sammy and Huds. Both Sammy and Huds stalled and we couldn't get Hossa. Once he left, they both left. So we didn't keep any of the three 1 Lidstrom for life reacted to this

Guest Crymson Report post Posted April 26, 2010 Throughout the series against LA, Samuelsson was repeatedly given space in the slot. If he is kept out of the slot, as he has been in the Canucks/Wings games so far, he's not so dangerous.
Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted April 26, 2010 I'm happy for him, and if we do meet the Canucks in a later round, I want him to be the only player on their roster (with the possible exception of Kesler)to have a good series agaisnt us (as long as we still win of course ). I wonder how Team Sweden's management feels about leaving him off their roster now?
kook_10 1,705 Report post Posted April 26, 2010 I wonder if he would have still played this well without two enormous chips on his shoulders.
stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted April 26, 2010 I've said it before, I'll say it again - he's having a great year and you can't take that away from him... but it's an anomaly and he will come back down to earth...

While I agree to an extent, before his torried 9 goals in 7 games to close out the season, he was producing at almost the exact same rate for ESTOI and PPTOI. He won't be a league leader obviously, but I really don't think askign 30 from him again would be too far fetched.

DirtyD 38 Report post Posted April 26, 2010 (edited) Throughout the series against LA, Samuelsson was repeatedly given space in the slot. If he is kept out of the slot, as he has been in the Canucks/Wings games so far, he's not so dangerous. This. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for Sammy and wish him nothing but success (except against the Wings). However, we all know that Sammy doesn't exactly have the biggest bag of tricks; he's a shooter. When shooters can't get to the prime areas they need to in order to get their shots off, they can turn from prolific scorers to blame-laden floaters on a dime (*cough*Franzen*cough*). Obviously its very helpful to Sammy that he's playing with the Sedins who are both talented enough to open up a lot of free ice for him, but I just can't shake the feeling that the Kings really screwed the pooch in terms of defending against that line. With that said, I think that the super-tight version of the Wings from Games 4 & 5 would be able keep that line in check, while the sloppy-as-f*ck Wings from Games 1-3 & 6 would get eaten alive. Let's just hope we get the opportunity. Edited April 26, 2010 by DirtyD
