YzermanLives 3 Report post Posted May 5, 2010 (edited) Post Olympic games got us over excited and we expected more. But Detroit Red Wings fans are spoiled. Us not getting in the playoffs wouldn't make sense. Atlanta Thrashers getting into the playoffs would be the greatest thing in the world for their fans. Regardless of how the Wings do this Thursday, I'm still happy to be a Wings fan and always will be. Could you imagine being a fan of anyone else? Me either. Theophany 110 Report post Posted May 5, 2010 This I can't understand. With so many of our top players out with injuries, most of them only played in half of this seasons games. These guys should be fresher than those who played the whole season. There's a problem with your assumption, though. Guys that are injured can't work out in some specific part of their body, and if they're out for a long time (like Franzen), they see muscle atrophy. So while you and I are sitting on our asses and watching games, the injured guys are essentially doing the same, losing muscle mass and tone. Expecting a guy to come back at 100% of what he was pre-injury is insane and ignorant. No matter what, you're not going to come back from an injury mid-season and play as well as you did before. I honestly doubt there's mental fatigue, but physical fatigue? Oh hell yes there is, especially with how hard most of the guys tend to push their body after they're given the green light to work out by the training staff. YzermanLives 3 Report post Posted May 5, 2010 Basically we aren't Yankees fans feeling entitled to win. We just want em to win.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted May 5, 2010 If we lose, it sucks, but everything starts over in October. The guys get to rest up and go at it again. If we get eliminated, this summer just watch your 1997, 1998, 2002, and 2008 Stanley Cup DVDs. Also, if you have the DVD set with all 6 games of the 2008 final, watch those too. The great thing about winning Championships is that no one can take them away from you.

There is no such thing as a successful season if the Wings don't win the cup. It ain't over. And they are the Wings. But really. If they lose it's a terrible season? If they rolled over after the olympic break and quit playin ID say fail to do what they've done , I'm calling it a solid effort. So are we feeling entitled to win? Game 4 in the Joe thurs. I'll be rooting harder then ever iF they win yay. If they don't I salute my team that put it all out there and didn't quit. titanium2 867 Report post Posted May 6, 2010 Yes I do remember. My point is these guys were damn good the second half. I really don't think it was a bunch of fluky games we happened to win. What the hell happened?? Well the level of opponents weren't nearly as good as San Jose for one. And while they did win a lot of games they still looked hampered and I don't think they gave any sixty minute efforts in any of them.

There is no such thing as a successful season in which you don't win it all. How can losing be called successful? It can't! Even when the Wings came as close as possible to winning last year, it was still an unsuccessful season; a failed season. I don't feel entitled to anything. If the Wings want to win, then they have to earn it. This goes for everything in life, not just hockey. Hockey in big business in Detroit. Failure is not an option.
