Someone please explain to me HOW Bertuzzi can be considered one of our best players this series. Cuz I don't get it. Constant turnovers, inability to control the puck in the offensive zone, skating as slow as a peewee... Tell me how he's been good?

I don't know....how about the fact that he's tied for 4th in points in the playoffs and is a +4. All for a mere 1.5 mil. What the hell are you complaining about?

I like Eaves and Miller, but we're too undersized on our bottom two lines.

I'd like to see some more size in our checking forwards so that we can wear teams down.

I hate to say it because I've loved having him around for many years, but Draper lost me this season. Hopefully, he won't be back next year.

Agreed. Draper and Maltby aren't making this decision any easier. I'd gladly take Ritola/Eaves or even Eaves/Miller on the fourth line than those two.

Exactly. Guys with some good size who aren't injury prone or skinny as a coat rack. Guys that can throw their weight around.

i think eaves and bert will be back, but miller is the odd man out. Abdelkader will be full time next year.

I didn't even factor Abdelkader into the equation -- that makes it even more interesting.

I think if Bertuzzi comes back, he drops a line. He's not fast enough or half the scoring threat he used to be, but he still provides a decent amount of offense. Hudler replaces Bertuzzi in our top 6 next year, in my opinion.

I hope Maltby won't be back. And maybe Draper. I've never been one to jump on the old guys, I'm a loyal person. But honestly, this team needs something but there simply aren't enough roster spots to go around.

Draper isn't great on faceoffs anymore (at least to my knowledge currently) and doesn't really provide anything except experience. But he's not the first one I'd get rid of.

Maltby, I'm sorry, but you and Draper only provide experience and we didn't really notice you while you were gone. You'll always be a Red Wing to me and a piece of this franchise, but it's time for you to step aside.

Bertuzzi: You've been great and you've been searching for a home and you're a good story, but honestly we don't have the roster spots. You were great for what we paid for you, but if we can find a better deal we need to take it.

Eaves and Miller need to stay.

Man...I'm surprised I had that much to say right now. Maybe it's because we all sort of knew that this would be the ending? A close game decided by poor decisions and bad reffing?

EDIT: If Draper doesn't go away, I assume he's going to be the 13th forward, just rotating in.

He has his annoying tendencies, but he was a good contributor, especially for his salary. I wish he could hang onto the puck at all, and wouldn't take so many penalties, but he fills a scoring role very adequately.

I don't really know what the UFA market is on scoring wingers right now though. Obviously if there are better options available, I could do without those annoying tendencies.

I was going to reply, but after reading this it is clear you did not watch the playoffs this year.

i suspect Draper will be replacing Ritola as the 13th forward sometime during the season

I feel Its time to let the obsession with Draper, Malts...etc go.. Bring in the young talent and turn the page.

Drapes was nowhere to be found this playoffs... (malts was hurt)

What do you think...

I'm guessing tonight's mod doesn't like Bertuzzi, because the censorship on this board is ridiculous.

Tonight's mod, please explain why my first thread was deleted? I don't want to hijack this thread, but I feel that I really can't connect to you in any other way.

it's tough to think about because the bertuzzi on the third line experiment failed miserably during the regular season. Can't really see a helm/clear/bertuzzi third line. With hudler coming back it pretty much sets the top 6. Maybe if homer retire bert comes back but i dont see it happening. Just no room for him here. Id rather see gritty defensive guys with speed like eaves and helm on the third/fourth lines.

fill/datsuyk/homer? does he come back?

huds/z/mule

i'd imagine thats what the top 6 will look like

Even though Draper is my older son's favorite player, I think it's time for him to ride off into the sunset. Maltby too. Both have had fantastic careers, but I think it's time.

Its a tough one Bert played well but do we want him back. I think we can keep either Miller or Eaves not both. we simple need more size
