Depending on what lidstrom does with his contract, if he does stay that is, we can definately get a player that can contribute. Here is a list of players i would love to see in the winged wheel.

Thomas Plekanec(most likely not because hes emerged as a decent player)

Mathew lombardi(his speed is great and he has hands)

Raffi torres- Tough player, works pretty hard, he would be an upgrade to bert IMO, so if i had the choice i take raffi over him. But he has been injured quite a bit.

Maybe somehow if we snag one of those players, with hudler returning, we can be a dominate team.

Dump Williams, pick up Latendresse. (GL is an RFA)

Dump Lebda and Meech, and pick up Jack Johnson. (Though JJ has one more year under contract with LA)

I've seen a few people on here mention Johnson and I'm not really sure why. Granted I havn't seen much of him, but his numbers are certainly not encouraging.

Year GP G A P +/- PIM

2007-2008 Kings 74 3 8 11 -19 76

2008-2009 Kings 41 6 5 11 -18 46

2009-2010 Kings 80 8 28 36 -15 48

I realise the Kings are not the best Defensive team out there, and this would obviously contribute to his poor +/- but even so, is he really going to be what the wings need?

Like I said, I havn't seen him play much myself so perhaps the numbers are misleading. Can someone give me some upsides?

...if he's a feasible (affordable) replacement for meech and lebda then I guess we wouldn't be any worse off.

Ugh, it's because he played at U of M, somehow that makes him a great player in the NHL.........NOT! He is big Height: 6-1 Weight: 225lbs, if you call that big, & young, but that is about all he has going for him. There are much better D out there to be had than Jack Johnson.

Lombardi & Torres would be good. Plek will be asking too much money + we don't need another playmaker.

I think Lombardi would be a good pick up. He's so god damn fast, one of the few that might give Helm a run for his money

We don't need to sign any free agents.

Kirk Maltby is coming back healthy next year, so that's our free agent acquisition. :yowza:

Sorry, but that's what Holland always says at the trade deadline.

I definately dont want maltby back, hes not what he used to be.

Anybody hear about Lidstrom's 16 year old son being accepted to a hockey school in Sweden?

Can't be good...

http://detnews.com/article/20100510/SPORTS0103/5100412/1361/Nick-Lidstrom-s-son-enrolled-in-Swedish-hockey-school

That just proves that it's not who you are, but who you know. :hehe:

Holland may want to sign that kid just to keep Lidstrom happy.

Wings need to get a right handed goal scorer who's willing to take a hometown discount.

Sign a longterm deal with Ilya Kovalchuk (people will say we aren't going to sign him)

He's 27 years old.

Sign him for 15 Years/ 75m

5m Cap Hit

Assuming the cap goes up 1m dollars from multiple sources...and

Lidstrom resigns for 3.5m/1 year deal...

Heres our roster:

Add/remove players as you wish (Lilja/Kindl)

well we've got us a stalemate huh

I understand Jack Johnson numbers aren't great, but he is a hell of a lot better all around D-men then both those guys.

Latendresse had 25 goals in 52 games. Williams had a whopping 6 goals in 44 games. I thought that was a pretty good step up of a player that makes around the same. Though, GL's performance this year, should give him a substantial raise in pay.

Sorry, but that's what Holland always says at the trade deadline.

if this case, if Holland gives Lids $10M, then Maltby, Hudler & Lids will be the off season. Yay!

Seriously, dump Williams, Lebda, Meech, Lilja & Maltby. Re-sign Miller, Helm, Abby, Eaves, Holmstrom & Bertuzzi (cheap) and if Lids wants more than $4.5M then dump him. I like some of the names I am seeing, would LOVE to steal Ladd out of Chicago, but if they can dump Huet then they'll resign all of their FA's. If Lids leaves then Mitchell can be signed... Bottom line is, here we go again! We all have our hopes but reality says Holland is gonna wait until Chritmas if he has to for Lids so whenever Lids decides, all of the quality UFA's will be gone, quite possibly some of our own and we'll be stuck with "We retained the services or Lidstrom and re-aquired Hudler, that is our UFA season, besides, nobody out there fit the plans of the Detroit Red Wings"(which is why Holland won't draft McIlrath even if he is there at #21.)

Hey Holland remember when Malhotra's agent contacted you last July about him wanting to play here? I am sure glad we signed Williams for $1.5 instead... On the other hand, Malhotra is glad he signed with San Jose right about now anyway... Oh I also see Travis Moen is still playing in these playoffs too, guess he chose the wiser as well! Oh, wait those two big men didn't fit in the Wings plans last July did they?

Every year Holland says he wants to get bigger and stronger thru the draft and UFA's. We'll see what happens this year. Hudler? Trade him at the draft along with our pick in order to move up to guarantee McIlrath... will it happen? :hysterical:
