I guess he got tempted to play with his superstar countrymen ovechkin, kovalchuk etc.. but come on, he should rest up and prepare for next season IMO

He needs all the practice he can get. I expected a little more from him in these playoffs, he was outplayed by Joe Thornton in pretty much every aspect.

He was excellent against phoenix imo

Not easy playing with slow-foot-holmstrom and filppula who choked against the sharks and unwilling to shoot the puck

I think Pavel was our most consistant player in the playoffs. Howard, Lidstrom, Z, Franzen etc. all had great games here and there but Pavel was great in every game.

Yeah, he wasn't awful. I'm just bitter about the 5 straight faceoff losses at the end of game 5. And I was expecting him to shutdown Jumbo Joe or atleast hamper him. <_<

Well, I think Pavel has always been able to be one of the relatively healthier players on the Red Wings so I guess I'm not too worried. He does have his emotional letdowns every now and again but he still finds a way to take care of himself physically.

I wonder if he does anything that the guys who have injuries too often don't do.

Is Rafalski going to play? He might be able to help Team Canada again.

I hope Filppula comes as well, but he probably won't.

Good. He needs to figure out a way to step up on the offensive end for next year without sacrificing his quality defense.

Thornton totally cheated those faceoffs though. Basically just fell on top of Pavel without ever stopping first.

As long as he wins Gold and joins the Triple Crown club, its all good.

And its hardly like playing a 7 game series against Vancouver is it?
"If I can be totally honest, it's not a lot of guys you get impressed by. Actually, it's no one else but him. From the bench, to see what move he makes -- you're like, 'I wish I could do that.' Sometimes you sit on the bench and just think, 'wow,' and you look over to the other bench and they sit there and shake their heads, too. He has great, great skills. I'm probably not going to play with another player who has the kind of skills he has." Mikael Samuelsson on Pavel Datsyuk

It's official then, I'll be rooting for Russia!

Good luck, Pavel. I guess when you're used to playing 100+ games a year, the habit is really hard to break.

Rafalski was one of team USA's best players in the olympics.

I disagree.

I think Germany will win the WC this year. They've been waiting since 1990. :D
According to my profile, my reputation is excellent. LOL.

I swear to God some people are delirious, or hate players so much they obsess over some little detail. Rafalski was one of our best players, overall, and he was the star of the Olympics.
