Good ol' Aaron seems to take it a bit personal. It is funny that a team like the Wings can spend the last 19 years competing for or winning the Stanley Cup and they lose to a good team on an off year in the second round and its about "what happened" and "are they finished". Gotta love the media...

Fans of other teams and media were just waiting, lurking and hungry to pounce on the Red Wings for not making it to the WCF/SCF. They wanted this day to come since 2006 so they can say, "hey look, Detroit sucks! Their days are over!!". Wings will be in the finals again either next year or the year after.

People in the media are stupid. "They are used to it." What? They played like 402 games in 4 years no one is used to that. And it's not like they lost to the Thrashers they lost to the best team in the West. And they really aren't all that old. 70-75% of this team is 30 or younger. People just want this to be the end. But people said that in 99 too and now only 5 guys from that team are still here and they are still a contender.

Exactly. Look at our core:

Datsyuk-- in his prime

Zetterberg-- in his prime

Franzen-- in his prime

Filppula-- entering his prime

(Hudler-- entering his prime)

Lidstrom-- Old but better than 99% of the league

Rafalski-- Old but still a top pairing d-man (and the defensive mvp of the Olympics)

Kronwall-- entering his prime (and was the leading defensive scorer of the playoffs in 09)

Stuart-- entering his prime

Howard-- just finished his rookie season! He just turned 26 but goalies hit their prime around 30

I love the argument that they are "used to it". By that logic, get there twice and you should be there for life instead of getting exhausted from one trip after the other. The media just doesn't like the explanation to be that the Wings have been better than any other team in the last 4 years and playing that much hockey is draining. Its more fun to speculate that the previous 19 seasons of excellence are FINALLY over.

Not so fast :D

I miss Aaron. :(

Every Wings fan does, he was a great defender of the Wings, and apparently still is.
