newfy 695 Report post Posted May 28, 2010 With Holland saying he is going to sign a decent player that is hard to play against and made it kinda sound like he wants someone who may drop the gloves I think Adam Burish is one of the forerunners for this spot as a UFA and Chicago may have to let some players go. I was wondering if anyone had read anywhere or seen anything about him saying he wants to resign in Chicago or wants to go somewhere else? Anyone know any decent Blackhawks forums I could look for some info for this guy, I mean, he's hard not to want in a wings jersey..... http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/41210
HankthaTank 1,100 Report post Posted May 28, 2010 I like Burish's gritty play for sure but would rather have somebody with scorer's touch say like Matthew Lombardi. Pretty sure he would come at a higher price but definitely like his ceiling better than a guy like Burish. Not to mention no more stinkin Badgers!!! (last part's a joke, love you Raffi!) Yeah Burish definitely doesn't have a scoring touch, but Holland is looking for someone relatively cheap that can play a 4th line role. Burish wasn't healthy at all this season, he played only like 13 games so he might come cheaper then he normally would've. When he was healthy the year before he played 9:12 a game, and 2 minutes of shorthanded time per game. So he can kill penalties, play a regular shift for a 4th liner and he had 16 fights. Looks like the guy to me. Its gotta be either Burish or Nystrom that we sign.

Wrecking balls Oh god, imagine watching that line play. Burish and Abdelakder would combine for like at least 25 fights and Eaves isn't scared to stick his nose in there, not to mention all of them are pretty big hitters. I would love watching that line play.
weGotTheCup89 41 Report post Posted May 28, 2010 chicago will definitely be letting a lot of guys go. worth it if they win a championship... and more likely that guys will take discounts to stay (see Detroit Red Wings). but then yes, they will still be have to let a lot of guys go haha
Hockeymom1960 5,107 Report post Posted May 28, 2010 I'd love to have Burish on this team. Would love Sharpie but I know we couldn't afford him
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) IF the Hawks win the Cup this year, I would hesitate to add Burish to the line-up. I'd rather have someone "hungrier" than a guy coming off a cup win. Just my opinion. Edited May 28, 2010 by rick zombo
king_malice 17 Report post Posted May 28, 2010 I think Burish would be a awsome pick up for the Wings, he probably has the same scoring touch as Abby or Helm i could see Burish putting up 20pts which ill take especially with his style of play. Franzen-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Hudler-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi Cleary-Filppula-Eaves Burish-Abdelkader-Helm Draper Id be happy with these lines next season, 3 pretty solid lines of scoring and would be a hell of a 4th line. 1 HankthaTank reacted to this

Like where your heads at but I like this...not much for line combos but away we go (fully ready to be ridiculed lol) Franzen-Zetterberg-Cleary Hudler-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Eaves-Filppula-Bertuzzi (would just rather he goes) Abbie-Helm-Burish Changed my mind on Eaves with the 4th line. Still think he brings an excellent wrister that could score more with the right set. Plus I am just praying, hoping, wishing, pipe dreamin for Clears to be back to form and get that line back with Hank and Mule. See i like Bertuzzi and thought he had a great season and pretty good post season, only if he could cut out some of those penalties id be real happy, but if he left id like Raffi Torres in for Bert another big winger, i think Torres would bring the same scoring ability but a little more grit to his game like old Bert. Just my opinion. I still think if Burish came to a new team he would really want to prove himself. Not to mention he's like 26 so he'll probably still be hungry for more cups and we can have a fairly tough guy for years to come instead of the typical come here for a year then retire tough guys we're used to. HankthaTank 1,100 Report post Posted May 28, 2010 Yeah I don't think guys win 1 cup and lose the hunger imo. In fact, getting that ring only makes these guys want to win more. At 26 settling for anything really doesn't hack it. Although I am not in the league I would not just settle to be at this sucky job for now lol.
TheBadOne 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2010 Adam Burish is pretty good but is coming off an injury-riddled season, so IDK if his stock's necessarily that high. I agree that the Wings need a hard-nosed player, but I don't think Burish is the right guy. Also, being a former Coyotes STH, Lombo's a great player but I doubt the Red Wings will be able to get him without blowing their cap situation out of the water and he doesn't do much to add toughness to the team. Zenon Konopka, however, not only lead the league in fights for the 09-10 season, but also has a 63% face-off win percentage. A fourth-liner who can win faceoffs and fights would be a great fit on the team, considering Drapes could be the faceoff guy on the fourth line should Konopka be serving a penalty. How I'd dress the team in that light... Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Franzen Hudler-Filppula-Bertuzzi Cleary-Helm-Holmstrom Abdelkader-Konopka-Draper Reserves: Ritola for the scoring lines, Miller for the checking lines. cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted May 28, 2010 With the stats he has put up this season, he may have to pay somebody in order to play. He can expect a big cut in pay; then again, in a weak moment, some foolish team may pay him too much. And he should never have done that commercial.

Buppy 1,720 Report post Posted May 28, 2010 Nystrom is better than Burish in pretty much every way, and will probably cost about the same. Though I'd be ok with Burish.
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted May 29, 2010 Chicago may have to let some players go. That's a slight understatement. I know s***cago fans like to say they're not about to enter cap hell, but this summer my roommate's father was on an Air Canada flight with Cliff Fletcher and his exact words to describe Chicago this summer were "cap hell". I know s***cago fans like to say they're not about to enter cap hell, but this summer my roommate's father was on an Air Canada flight with Cliff Fletcher and his exact words to describe Chicago this summer were "cap hell". Worse even than we were, or Pittsburgh, or San Jose. They're pretty much at the expected new cap, and still like 8 players short of a full roster. They might be able to unload Huet, but they'll also probably overpay Niemi, especially if they win the Cup. They likely have to part ways with at least one of Sharp, Versteeg, or Bolland, and probably Sopel, and possibly one of their better RFAs like Ladd or Hjalmarsson. There is a part of me that will be happy to see them taken down a peg, but the bigger part just hates the salary cap even more. They've built a fantastic team, and they can't even get more than one shot at a Cup before they start losing pieces. They'll still be a solid team, but this might be the last time we see a team this deep for a while.
RedFX 48 Report post Posted May 29, 2010 He wouldn't be the worst guy out there. And if we lose somebody like Miller/Eaves, I could see him here as a 4th line depth guy and a PK specialist. That being said, I would love to see someone with a little bit more of a scoring touch.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted May 29, 2010 Nystrom is better than Burish in pretty much every way, and will probably cost about the same. Though I'd be ok with Burish. Agreed.Maybe we can trade Draper to Tampa(or any team) for a draft pick, let Miller go,and sign Burish and Nystrom for the fourth line. Franzen-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Filppula-Zetterberg-Cleary Eaves-Helm-Hudler Nystrom-Abdelkader-Burish -Ritola
newfy 695 Report post Posted May 29, 2010 I think Nystrom is abetter fit then Burish as well but he's got a lot more talent. I figured we would be able to squeeze Burish in under the cap better. With all his injuries this season he will come very cheap I would expect.
