New NHL 2010 finals commercial

I don't like it. Although I mostly hate rap, so that might have something to do with it.

Just putting this out there though (as an observation, hopefully not a prejudiced statement)...of all the rappers, the NHL chose maybe the only prominent Caucasian one out there. ;) Now, obviously this isn't on purpose or anything. But, inadvertently, the connotation doesn't exactly break any stereotypes about the league in general.

In order to grow in the coming decades, the NHL has to do a much, much better job of getting minorities interested in hockey. Surely this commercial will have virtually no impact either way, but I would think even if only a few people notice what I just did, that's not helping the league at all.

The NHL has done such a great job this season with marketing, and this is how they start off the biggest part of the season? Someone forget to do this until the last second.

I got that feeling too watching the original video. Like someone threw it together after dinner and before bed.

s***ty commercial for a s***ty matchup. good job with the anti-climatic end to what started off as a good buildup for the post season. that goes for the teams left standing too. ******* flyers.....

Biased here cuz I like Eminem but I think the song works - and those of you thinking "why not pick an African American" rapper's song to promote the sport to a wider audience, the song choice here isn't going to make a big difference... Gotta start when they're young with a sport...

But yeah I approve of the combo. It's a new song too so I'm guessing that's another reason why it was picked. And lyrically it fits well... not as aggressive as you might usually like for a hockey commercial but... ok I started complaining.. better stop.

I should add that I love the room service commercial. Real classic humor: Room service! - Ovechkin! Cracked me UP.

Plus eminem is a hockey fan. Didn't jump into this thread before on the subject.

Eminem has sported hockey jerseys at a lot of his concerts. I mean....c'mon....would you relate if snoop dogg did the song? You'd be like...wtf he got to do with hockey?

Nothing racial really even about it.

Couldn't find any pictures of Eminem with a Red Wings jersey but I did find:

don't really like it. the music is bloody boring and the "old" look of shots doesn't help either.

I like the one of The Nephilim much beter

I do like this... Has some old school Wings in it too.

Saw this one yesterday too. Good stuff.

I have nothing against the Eminem one or any of the commercials in general. I think this entire ad campaign they've done for the playoffs is top notch and one of the few things they've gotten right.

After seeing that new one where "there are no words", it has to be pretty obvious how winning the cup can't be expressed. You have guys like Brett Hull who never run out of things to say, and Chris Osgood who is never without a smart remark, speechless. And the most telltale, a guy like McCarty, so hardcore and having won it all before that interview can't hold back the emotion. THAT was a good ad. great concept.

That's Selanne right who gets so emotional that he can't say a word just shakes his head and shoves his cap down so can have a moment to try to clear his head. I can't imagine that senstation of joy and relief that drains you and leaves you empty. Instense.
