newfy 695 Report post Posted June 1, 2010 This is another thread about the possible drake type Holland may be looking at. Eager is a huge hitter, young and a solid fihgter. Reading some chicago boards people seem to think Eager will not be back next year because of the cap situation. Scored 11 goals a couple seasons ago and can play solid 4th line minutes, he doesn't just play 3 fighter minutes a night. Anyone think this is a possibilty? Seems most Hawks fans don't think he'll return.

HankthaTank 1,100 Report post Posted June 1, 2010 Well which Chicago 4th liner do you want? I honestly would say Eager is a bit better to have out there than Burish all things considered. Eager is a pain in the ass as Burish is but can back it up way better. Plus we have to start plucking from them and make this rivalry even better.

GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted June 1, 2010 I'd rather have Boogaard. He can take his 11 goals and shove it up his ass. The guy gets his ass kicked when he fights top heavies. He got smoked by a 42 year old Roberts a few years ago. Besides, he's a penalty machine. People here bitched that Downey would take penalties, even though he hardly ever did. Imagine what they'll be saying when this guy comes to Detroit. If we can't have Boogaard, a guy like Asham would be a better option if I had to choose. 1 Edillac reacted to this

Honestly I would take either of them and the fact that they are close to detroit they may want to come here if they can't stay in Chicago. Eager is tougher but Burish is the better all around player. I would rather add Abdelkader and a guy like Asham, Burish or Eager then add one heavy who plays 3 minutes a night. Build a team of all around tough Middle weights that can still play like philly has.

Boll would be my favourite addition probably but Tanner glass has some appeal as well. Holland has some options this year to add a decent 4th line gritty guy who can play and fight. Hopefully he isn't all talk. Brookabnk for Lilja could be a good replacement if Lilja walks or retires.

Of the UFA's I would prefer Konopka, Burish, or Thornton. Asham would be ideal, but he will likely command 1mill+ and want a third line role. I was surprised to see that Konopka had some scoring success in the AHL- he could possibly rack up 15+ points with the Wings forth line. Of the RFA's, I like Prust, Boll, and Glass. Helm's speed is a great asset at the center position; however, I haven't wanted enough of Konopka to comment on his skating and positioning abilities. newfy 695 Report post Posted June 2, 2010 This is exactly what he did the other night 3:24 or something TOI In a tight Stanley cup final game. Throughout the season he plays about 9 minutes and can score goals in the double digits. Eager would probably have the most offensive upside for a guy that would cost under a million. newfy 695 Report post Posted June 2, 2010 RIght now I would want Prime-Dallas Drake..that would be something Alot of these guys are extremely similar to a prime Dallas Drake. Some even better. Nystrom is just as good as a prime Dallas Drake, skill wise and hes tougher. Eager hits just as hard, is a tougher fighter and can scorejust as well as a prime Drake basically. Burish has some offensive upside and is just as big of a pain in the ass as Drake ever was. Just because we had Drake for one year and he hit hard doesn't mean there isn't guys out there who are just as capable. As wings fans we're just not used to seeing players that play this style. Drake topped out at 20 goals. he was more around 12-15 per year though I think giving Nystrom 2 years he could hit that easily and he is tougher then Drake was. I'm not downplaying Drake he was a great player. Eager has hit 11 goals already and is also tougher and a bigger hitter. Eager won't have quite the offense drake did but he's still only 5 goals off pretty much I'm just saying guys like Drake aren't all that hard to find, or at least guys that can fill the role fairly well. As wings fans we just aren't used to seeing it, teams like Chicago and Philly have a few guys who can fill this role.
