i think the ratings in las vegas and florida have to do with the large number of "out of towners" live there. maybe?

I would think the Vegas numbers are a large number of bars and casinos that would have it on for gambling purposes.

I'd say its disappointing that the only Western city is Vegas. The NHL is not doing so hot in this half of the country, is it?

Also, what about moving the Blue Jackets over to Indianapolis?

Unsurprising. Pittsburgh is not a big market. Amongst other things, this makes very silly Bettman's concerted attempts to push the team.

Um...Pittsburgh is high up than us.

People have better things to do at 5/6pm?

So why aren't they covering G3 and G4?

Pittsburgh's population, if I'm not mistaken, is quite a bit larger than Detroit's now. Not really fair to compare that.

The finals this year are higher than last because people are sick of Detroit winning and people are sick of Crosby.

According to this, game 1 did not have a higher rating than Wings/Pens game 1 last year:

Although we're talking about game 2 so whatev.

I live in Indianapolis and I don't see anyone else here watching hockey... Ever... The sports bars here are a joke seeing as they don't have any sports on unless the Colts are playing.

No it's not. It is not even close to Detroit, in terms of population.

Detroit City Pop: Pittsburgh City Pop:
912,062 316,718

Detroit CSA: Pittsburgh CSA:
5,354,225 2,462,571

Piece of crap screwed up my stats!!

Pittsburgh has roughly 2.5 mil in while Detroit has roughly 5.3 mil in its area, to clear it up. That means Detroit's MSA is more than double the size of Pittsburgh's.

But the Canadian numbers are way higher for this series.

Seems to me there's more interest across the board in these two teams.

Of course there is more interest in these teams across the board. They are two storied franchises. Pittsburgh really isn't, yet. You add to that the fact that many people all over the country have ties to these two cities, and you have a winner.

Game 2 wasn't even on in Indy, didn't they show a banquet instead of the first two hours of the game? How did it pull 5th highest?

Its still a small market. These numbers reflect the % of people in the city that watched the game, not the total number of people in the city that watched the game.

I wonder how far the ratings will drop with Versus broadcasting the games now?

I'd just like to point out that Buffalo clocked in at number three. I was there for the Buff/Boston series, and those fans really love their team.

I don't know where I'm going with this. I guess I just feel bad that their GM sucks. POW!

Marty Brodeur and Keith Tkachuk should have been honorary guests.

Bufflin was playing so he couldn't appear on the show.
