Trust me people, this is sheerly hypothetical. I have seen enough of you guys thinking this should happen. So I want to get the pulse of the people...Do we really want this to be a reality? I mean I am probably the biggest Cleary slappy in here. A Wings team with Cleary is better than without, imo.

He was supposed to fill the void left via free agency and was banged up ALL season long ... so his play was more under the microscope than in past seasons ... a healthy cleary is a goal scoring cleary

I am going to be misunderstood for posting this I already know. But I am allll for what you just said. Healthy Cleary = goal.gifthumbup.gif

Cleary's value to the team is higher than anybody's that we could potentially trade for, imo. He's coming off an injury-filled season and his stats (and value to other teams) will reflect that. He's also a player that had developed a bad reputation in organizations not named The Detroit Red Wings. Thus other teams aren't going to want to part ways with much. I say hold onto him and lets see what he can do this year when he's (hopefully) healthy for 82+ games. He seemed pretty optimistic in his last interview about next season.

exactly... he has a down year and plays through injuries like a warrior and people get on him!?!? the man is a true warrior and we should be grateful to have him... how quickly people forget 08... anyone who says yes should be ashamed of themselves and is an idiot...

Hell no.

Dan Cleary is exactly what you want in a hockey player. Clears is one of the most versatile guys we have. He is a Jack of All Trades. He can effectively bang and grind on the fourth line, bang grind and score on the 3rd line, create space, bang, score and back check on the 2nd and 1st lines. More versatilve than anyone else we have.

I've seen too many games where the Wings came out flat except for Dan Cleary.

a wings team that could trade cleary for a pick and sign andrew ladd (or adam burrish) is better than a wings team with cleary. cleary's best days are now behind him, and his hands are made of stone.

*facepalm* my friend, no....

Adam Burish or Ben Eager are nothing near the player Cleary is. These hands of stone are 1 year removed from a 9 goal playoff and the injury was the knee. Fail but thanks for the input.

i never mentioned ben eager...but i did throw andrew ladd in there. and for the same price tag, i'd definately take ladd.

EDIT: Burish or Ladd... no thanks. Ladd is nothing special really. Has been a healthy scratch this playoffs too so Chicago can't even find his use. Pass.

Don't get me wrong, I strongly disagree with the deez on his general thought, but Ladd is a quality hockey player and would probably fit in here well... but I'd still rather have Cleary...

I hear ya man. Ladd isn't as bad as we may think. But replacing Cleary is the argument here and as you stated, no thanks. I should say I will take Ladd with Cleary still. How about that?
