Bobby Ryan

I heard today on the Radio and tonight on a Canadian sports show that the Ducks could be in Cap trouble this off-season and might not be able to lock up Bobby Ryan. Im pretty sure he is a RFA and im not to sure how it works in getting a RFA and what we would have to give to get him but i would lovve to get him.

Franzen-Zetterberg-Holmstrom

Hudler-Datsyuk-Ryan

Cleary-Filppula-Miller/Bertuzzi(if cheap enough)

Eaves-Abdelkader-Helm

Draper

I dont see this as even possible. I dont think we have alot of cap space ourselves which means that any offer we make to him, anahiem can probably match. PLUS hes like the future of the franchise, so im sure they would trade someone else just to increase capspace to resign him. Dont get me wrong, i would love to see it, i just dont this its ganna happen.

He's a stud on the ice, and he's young, and so I really doubt the Ducks would not match pretty much any offer sheets from other teams. I imagine that they'd only choose to let him go if some lower-tier team offered him a mammoth contract, as the size of that offers sheet would mean many high picks going the way of Anaheim.

It's just not possible for the Wings, and yanking him away from Anaheim anyway would entail selling the team's draft future for some time.

does anyone know what we would have to give the Ducks for him ?

his salary was 765,000 and his cap hit was 1.9mill this season

This was for 09-10 season, but I think it's the same still. Compensation is based off the cap hit of the contract he signs.

$994,433 or below - No Compensation

$994,434 - $1,506,717 - 3rd round pick

$1506,718 - $3,013,433 - 2nd round pick

$3,013,433 - $4,520,150 - 1st round pick, 3rd round pick

$4,520,151 - $6,026,867 - 1st round pick, 2nd round pick, 3rd round pick

$6,026,868 - $7,533,584 - Two 1st round picks, 2nd round pick, 3rd round pick

Over $7,533,584 - Four 1st round picks

But as said earlier, no way we could really afford it. Not even with something like trading Flip or Happy for his rights.

ducks roster/cap

http://www.thefourthperiod.com/salarycap/ana.html

31.8 mill locked up this off-season and have like 14UFA and like 4RFA

That's not accurate though, since Giguere is now in Toronto. The first move the Ducks will make is an 8-year deal for Bobby Ryan, watch.

*edit* Hell, that still has PRONGER on there, not updated at all.

There's absolute zip chance that Ryan will only get $3.5m. Zero. Nada.

Ryan will take big bucks ($5,500,000 a season minimum unless you sell him on an ultra long term contract) to sign. If you get him to a contract Anaheim can't match you can expect the compensation in picks to be crippling. Now if Holland has magic hands and somehow works out a sub $4,500,000 contract that the Ducks can't match I'd have to mail him my first born.

There's absolute zip chance that Ryan will only get $3.5m. Zero. Nada.

And if he does take that number there's even less than zero chance the Ducks don't match it.

Add up the yearly salaries for the duration of the contract. Divide that sum by the number of years he's signed for. So if this is the contract (numbers here are just made up for illustration's sake):

2010-11: 6mil

2011-12: 6mil

2012-13: 5mil

2013-14: 5mil

2014-15: 4mil

2015-16: 3mil

2016-17: 3mil

2017-18: 2.5mil

2018-19: 2mill

2019-20: 1.5mil

that means you're paying $38,000,000 over a 10 year period. That means his cap hit is 3.8 million.

i know brian burke isn't the GM of the ducks anymore, but it would be hilarious to see that ****** kevin lowe make a ridiculous offer sheet to ryan like he did when he stole penner's fat ass from the ducks....because really guys, f*** the duck!

That's not at all out of the realm of possibility... to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised at all if this did indeed happen... fills a HUGE need for the Oilers and kinda repays the Ducks so to speak...

EDIT - oh yea, back to the OP - drugs are bad mm'kay

I don't think he would be too happy with those numbers since he is only 23 now and would be making peanuts in his prime. Gonna have to be a lot longer than 10 years. 15to18 years might work???????

Maybe he'll take a lower salary to go to a contender. Ha ha ha.

 A promise is a promise. Does UPS care if packages are crying when you drop them off to mail them?

The fallback for all Wings fans playing with CapGeek. :D
