On xm this morning, they were talking about the Huet contract. They said, if they aren't able to move him, there is a likely chance of him being sent to the minors.

I am actually excited to see what happens with this contract, because you do carry a valid point, to which the NHLPA would flex their muscle on the Hawks.

The NHLPA would flex their muscle on the Hawks? Waiving him allows him to play, as well as it gives other teams that may be interested - and there are teams that might be able to use him - the opportunity to grab him up for free. Same with Campbell. They didn't make a stink about Khabibulin when he was sent down, why would they make a stink about Huet or Campbell? They would still be making the same amount of money. It's not like the two lose $5m each; they are on one-way deals, plus waivers give other teams the opportunity to grab them for nothing.

They didn't 'flex their muscle' when Washington assigned Michael Nylander and his $4m cap hit to Grand Rapids last season (18 points in 24 games). Nylander is still under contract to Washington, although he finished last season in Jokerit (7 points in 14 games) and his NHL career may or may not be over. He's still contract-bound to Washington until the end of the 2010-2011 season, but he may not get a new deal in the NHL once his current deal ends. He will likely be at their training camp, but it's possible that will only be a formality unless he really tears it up and/or shows great chemistry with one of the team's stars and looks like he might be worth the cap hit for the year.

Well, that is easy to explain, this is basically another source of Hawks info because we here at LGW as well as our fans around the world, also known as The Red Wings Nation are the most Hockey knowledgeable fans in the world, so its no wonder you come here to learn stuff about your own team. You certainly aren't going to learn much about it hanging around the streets of Chicago and it's suburbs or talking with other "fans" like Jim Belushi and Vince Vaughn, who only show up to games when the team wins, where were they about 10 years ago? Same place you were I would imagine. But please, come, stay, pull up a chair, because next year when you are sans 5 of 6 of your important players, you will need to learn all you can here because odds are 3/4's of the fans that are celebrating right now wont even remember what icing is...

Sure will be nice to see the like of Madden, Burish, Neimi, Ladd, Hjalmarsson & Eager amongst others playing somewhere else. Reports out of Toronto even suggesting Sharp and Versteeg may even be on the block, so you're gonna have a great team next season. But, hey, there's always the Bears, right? Hang in there, 50 years isn't that long to wait (again)

this. thumbup.gif

also kopecky got demolished.

A) Nylander was injured for half a season and was sent down when he got healthy under the guise of a training stint.

B) Nylander was exposed to re-entry waivers at least once and entry waivers twice (if I remember correctly)

C) Nylander was actively shopped to European teams once it was clear no one in the NHL would take his contract.

D) Nylander struggled to produce in the NHL when given a shot

Huet was strong at the end of the year this year and Campbell was an Olympian.

Was Khabibulin ever actually sent down? I know he passed waivers, but he never played any AHL games, and played 42 in Chicago. If he was sent down, it wasn't for very long. And as stated, there's a world of difference between an aging player suffering a serious injury and losing his ability to be productive and a player like Campbell. Also, I doubt the Chicago owners would be so cavalier about spending almost $13M for two AHL players.

Campbell is not going to be waived. Very unlikely that Huet would either. No doubt they'll try to trade Huet, but maybe not Campbell. If they can't trade Huet, they'll most likely try to make the roster work with a buyout. If that still doesn't work for them, then maybe they'd send him down.

Don't get me wrong though, I hope they do send both of them down. If they do, they'd be lucky to get another FA to sign in the next 50 years.

LOL. You guys have been talking about the Hawks all playoffs long. This is basically like another source of Hawks information for me. hypocrite

Wings fans a true hockey fans they enjoy the game for what it is, so how many cups have the Hawks won in the last 75 years. Enjoy, congrats it will be short lived, remember the Wings have played more hockey then any other team in the NHL since 1991. So remeber this the Wings had some rest this year and the road to a repeat will be threw Detroit. So enjoy your summer have the party and lose half your team to free agency you will not repeat

Tomas Kopecky vs. Ville Leino in a Boggle tournament...

Who would win?

Kopecky would get up to take a leak, trip over absolutely nothing, and break his jaw faceplanting.

Leino would have the hardest time trying to get anything done, but as soon as he leaves to go play it with his bro Timmonen he'd start to dominate.

Draw.
