Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted June 15, 2010 this cover makes sense, but it is pretty ridiculous that there are two Blackhawk's in a row - last years was a joke and Kane did NOT deserve it and that's where the problem really lies, 2010's cover probably should have actually been... I want to vomit admitting this... Crosby Back to the game though, I think I need to start collecting a paycheck from EA, haha I write them an e-mail every year with improvement's I would make to the game and it seems like they're actually listening - broken sticks, new faceoff's, disallowed goals... man, I'm pumped... I just hope they actually listened about controls and expanding classic controls for those of us that don't like shooting with the joystick (I know, it's better, blah, blah) and being able to make line changes with classic controls... and I would still love to see them expand the management section to allow more years of development for players, RFA status, arbitration, trading of future years draft picks in GM mode, etc... otherwise, I'm looking forward to it! i go on and blog on the EA Sports web site too. i mentioned at the beginning of the year in NHL 10 that they should add the CHL and make it so you make the NHL in the be a pro game mode after a junior career and in the GM mode you can draft real CHL players instead of weird makeshift EA sports guys...guess somebody listened. NHL 11 is gonna be epic! ...as long as they fix the collision detection to make the contact more realistic, like when you barely get bumped you should still be able to pass the puck off or get a shot off while falling or something...but everyone on the EA site bitched about that enough that changes are in order already. I just still REALLY hope they add to the management part of the game, for example: draft a guy at 18 and own his rights for 3 years before you have to sign him to an entry level deal, let him develop overseas or in juniors AFTER being drafted, then after 3 years, then sign him to his entry level deal, then at 24, he is an RFA and you can tender him a qualifying offer and sign RFA's to offer sheets, etc... I just hate how right now, if you draft high, you're either paying out the ass for a 21 year old that you basically HAVE to put on your roster, or you lose him... they should make it easier to retain your assets for longer and develop them longer... Yea, I made the suggestion on the site and e-mailed it as well... I don't play online, so I didn't really have any input in that area, but I can see the intrigue there... it's such an amazing series, they just always seem to be JUST out of the reach of perfection... Jesusberg 1,256 Report post Posted June 15, 2010 I don't care who's on the cover... -CHL included -New physics-based checking -New face-off system -QUICK DEKES ARE BACK The issues I could see with this game are the sticks breaking, and the called off goals... If either one of them happens too often it's going to be really annoying.

If either one of them happens too often it's going to be really annoying. but it's more realistic, as long as less than 5 sticks break a game... that's not far off at all... I just hope that it's not JUST disallowed goals, but I hope they have occasional goals which are waived off that are reviewed and then called as good... I like realism
Hossa4Life 4 Report post Posted June 15, 2010 Hossa should be be on NHL 11. This pro all star carried his team through the playoffs and won the cup he deserves. This should also earn him a spot on the cover.
MCleveland89 122 Report post Posted June 15, 2010 I wish they would pick someone based on qualifications and stick with it. Such as the Conn Smythe trophy winner. This year it works. I just hope they keep doing that if that's what they decided.

I like realism Oh, so do I... that's why I could see them as being problematic. As long as they make sense I'm fine, but for example in NHL 10 the board work annoyed me. You'd have guys 20 feet away from you somehow pinning you against the wall. It was pretty difficult (at least I thought so) to win a board battle unless you had another teammate close too. So long as it isn't stick breaking city and the disallowed goals make sense I'm all for it.
HankthaTank 1,100 Report post Posted June 15, 2010 (edited) Didn't agree with Kane whatsoever last year especially with him on the cover playin with his pacifier. But this year should go to a different team at least. Iggy would be a great cover guy but Phaneuf had it like 2 years ago so maybe, not to be impartial (or do I?) its time for a Red Wing to be on the cover? Perhaps the guy most of these dekes the game tries to mock...? #13 Edited June 15, 2010 by HankthaTank

MCleveland89 122 Report post Posted June 16, 2010 they should put Miller on the cover...he gave the US a chance at the Olympics Yeah, but this is developed by EA Canada. I don't see them caring about the US Olympics too much.
Guest Lidstromboli Report post Posted June 16, 2010 i won't be 100% convinced until they officially announce it. the site could've been hacked, or the image might be a promo (they've made covers for miller, kopitar, etc. too)
Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted June 16, 2010 they should put Miller on the cover...he gave the US a chance at the Olympics toews and miller are good candidates. if dats rips it up this year, he should be on the cover of NHL 12. if not...stamkos. Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted June 16, 2010 You are correct and also lest we forget the amazing Dreamcast version yzerman was also on the cover of NHL breakaway 98? for N64 and NHL Rivals 2004 for xbox. lidstrom was on the cover of NHL Hitz Pro in 2004. i have almost every hockey game made for atari, nintendo, super nintendo, N64, sega, game cube, ps2, xbox, and xbox 360 and one for the wii....and that's about the extent of wings on the covers. yes i know it's ridiculous that i have over 80 hockey games, but it looks really cool on a book shelf in chronological order from atari to 360. Yeah I usually stick to the EA versions and avoid 2K and all other companies. Thats a beyond impressive collection there, and for a hockey man cave, as I have, would be quite the site. The wife would "love" that without a doubt. It was 99... Without google I would not survive

Tommy_Like_Wingy 25 Report post Posted June 16, 2010 EA has said before that they choose their cover player based on which players actually play their games and then they take their on-ice play into account as well. If Toews plays their games (which I'm assuming he does) then it's a no-brainer based on this past season.
