LInk even with the indecent exposure and this slash i think it is time they put him in...thoughts?

Loved Dino, but am not convinced he belongs... definitely not before a number of other players.
I think he was a better player than Nieuwendyk, but not having a Cup obviously kills your chances - as well as the whole character issues.

He's a true compiler who racked up a ton of goals without ever really being a dominant player in the game (scored over 50 goals only twice and never a post-season all-star at RW). I like to see guys with high peaks but low careers (Bure, Lindros) in before the guys with high career but lower peaks (Ciccarelli, Niewendyk, Adreychuk, Fleury).

Players like Makarov, Howe, Oates, Gilmour, Vachon and Tremblay had both peak and career.

Why would you pick Makarov before Mikhailov egroen?
According to my profile, my reputation is excellent. LOL.

I would - just seemed like a much more dominant player (more scoring titles, better in best-on-best tournaments and vs. NHL games). Mikhailov should get in, along with Firsov. I really don't think you can question whether they were amongst N. America's best at their respective times.

QFT, he is eaisly one of the best play-makers of all time. I'm always amazed at the fact he was a wing for a short time. I know Hypothetical threads never really accomplish anything, but can you imagine if we had hung onto him and had drafted Jagr instead of Keith P? A few more cups easily in my book.

I swear, Wayne Gretzky is the only player I've ever seen make smoother passes than Adam Oates.

Makarov had a good NHL career after his prime, and internationally he was considered one of the two best wingers to ever play (according to the IIHF centennial team recently named, Makarov and Kharlamov were named as the wingers with the best overall international careers) so acting like Dino or Gilmour or someone like that deserves it more than him is silly. Makarov should be more of a lock than just about anyone eligible.

As for builder: our own Jimmy Devellano certainly deserves it.

He does, but it's going to be Pat Burns.

C'mon finally get Dino in there :(

Couldn't agree more - however with some of his behavior (clubbing Richardson over the head, and indecent exposure) has left a bad taste in the mouths of the HOF induction committee.

I'd take 1 Dino over 10 Hudlers any day of the week; he's exactly what this team needs....I'll never forget that night in the old Chicago Stadium when the Red Wings battled the Blackhawks.

Wow, I'm surprised that they finally gave Dino his due. Better late than never.

Way to go Dino! Always has been a favorite of mine. Met him at his club a few weeks back, cool guy

Not a club guy but was there for a bday party. No judging lol.

I'm surprised and a little (a lot) disappointed that they didn't choose Pat Burns.

FINALLY! Dino was always a fav. Really happy about this one. Glad he got in ahead of Bure. Not that Bure doesn't deserve it eventually. Dino earned it. And no surprise about Jimmy D. Great news!

Me too. I really get the feeling this was the last chance they had before it's a posthumous induction in 2011.

But I'm really glad for Dino.

Brutal.

Happy for Dino, but he simply is not at the level of guys like Makarov, Gilmour, Howe and Oates.
Ciccarelli will probably open it up for a lot of 80s and early 90s compilers. Ultimately, he's under a PPG in a high scoring era.

Pretty ridiculous they are now favoring women over european greats whom had little to no NHL play.

Sorry, started a new thread with the news when I saw it on Red Wings Twitter.

Happy for Dino but I wanted Gilmour to get in very badly as well.
