Nathan Horton traded to Boston

thats a good trade both ways Wideman is a good D and a high pick, but Bruins are going to be SOLID next season

chiarelli's pissed about losing to philly obviously! way to go pete. boston just got mean on offense! horton to go with seguin?, lucic, bergeron, krejci, wheeler, sturm... barring injuries this year, the B's are looking pretty good. pick up a free agent Dman to replace wideman and they're contenders for sure.

Can they afford another starting D-man and Wheeler all at the same time?

They just traded away their second best D-man and are going to replace that with something off of the scrap heap, and sign Wheeler, or sign a decent D-man and a lesser winger and watch Wheeler walk away.

They have to hope no one throws a 4 mil offer at Wheeler, if he gets an offer sheet Boston will have a hard time adding him and Sequin to their current cap situation.

Without a doubt the Horton deal was win for the Bruins, but they got no cap relief and are now going to have to rely on unknowns on the backend.

They need to find a way to get rid of Thomas' contract, then sign a vet back up for cheap. That would help them dramatically.

Guest Crymson

I'm waiting for the first person to complain that Holland should have offered up Kronwall.

A Horton Savard Lucic line would be pretty scary. @ big, tough power forwards that can both score with one of the best playmakers in the game.

Or even put Seguin in the middle of them. Boston is going to be great next season.

I wouldn't be so sure:

FORWARDS

Patrice Bergeron ($4.750m) / Milan Lucic ($4.083m) / Marc Savard ($4.007m)

Michael Ryder ($4.000m) / Nathan Horton ($4.000m) / David Krejci ($3.750m)

Marco Sturm ($3.500m) / Shawn Thornton ($0.812m)

DEFENSEMEN

Zdeno Chara ($7.500m) / Dennis Seidenberg ($3.250m)

Andrew Ference ($2.250m) / Matt Hunwick ($1.450m)

GOALTENDERS

Tim Thomas ($5.000m) / Tuukka Rask ($1.250m)

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS

(these totals are compiled using the bonus cushion)

ROSTER: 14; CAP: $58.8m; PAYROLL: $50.328m; CAP ROOM: $8.472m BONUSES: $0.000m

Seguin (or Hall) will get $3.725 (or whatever rookie max is), and I don't think we'll have a bonus cushion this year, so they'll likely have to account for the full amount. That only leaves like $4.75 for 7 more players. I think they're going to have to move someone else. Thomas if they could; but I just noticed he has a NMC, they're probably stuck with him. Bergeron could be on his way out, with Seguin taking his spot.

They should have a great top 6 and first pairing, but after that they have a lot of work to do.

Thomas has stated that he wants out in order to regain his starting role, which you know he's not going to get in Boston.

EDIT: Could have sworn I read that Thomas said he wants out, but couldn't find a quote. At least it seems that there are some suitors for him.
