Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa . . . i thought stan bowman said the hawks were fine and were done trading

He never said they were done trading.

And what he said was obviously posturing anyways.Did anybody really believe they weren't going to be losing anything else?

Glad it's Versteeg.

I'd say a good half of Chicago's bandwagon base.

So you're replying to the bandwagon fanbase on your message board? That's weird.

I'm not 100% certain that the Blackhawks fanbase checks this board. I'm dubious. Perhaps we can do some IP checks to verify.

If this is in fact a done deal what's the hawks cap situation like now?

It depends on whether or not someone goes nuts on an offer sheet for one the RFA. If nobody does, this is most likely it. Even Ladd.

It turns out the cap hit for bonuses was only the 1.3 Toews Conn SMythe bonus, not the 4 mil + change that was initially reported.

Ladd's probably coming back then with the freed up money. Assuming Ladd signs:

Ladd/Toews/Kane

Kopecky/Sharp/Hossa

Stalberg/Bolland/?????

?????/Reasoner/?????

Bickell, Dowell, Skille, and maybe a vet or prospect to fill out the forward corps to look as follows:

Ladd/Toews/Kane

Kopecky/Sharp/Hossa

Stalberg/Bolland/Skille

Bickell/Reasoner/Dowell

?????

Still looks pretty good.

Yeah, because 75% of the 8,000+ members on this board registered within the last year or so.

Wait, that's your board.

Not sure why you think I take bandwagon fans as an insult. I don't care. I'm not one, so why would I? I don't even live in Chicago, so I don't have to deal with them. In fact, I'm on your side with that argument. I hate bandwagon fans as much as you.

Blackhawk nation still in denial.

About what? I'd love to hear this.

There's a great chance that this is all we lose this offseason, which is WAY less than (legit) fans thought just a few weeks ago.

Really, what are we in denial about? I'm interested.

Seems like WIngs fan are grasping for straws now that the offseason isn't going to be nearly as bad for the Hawks as you thought.

It looks like the Wings will take back the Central Division. Hawks are losing too much of their depth. What's funny is that without injuries Detroit would have been right up there with Chicago in the central...next season, it won't even be close.

Link or Source? You seem like you know what you're talking about but I didn't see this anywhere.

He never said they were done trading.

Curious...

True, true, the article says he wouldn't rule out any more trades. But the implication of the article was that they didn't need to shed any more salary, which wasn't true.

I think Versteegs hit was just over $3M a year.

Chicago is probably $8M under the cap, and they have a whole 13 players signed. They'll continue to bleed players tomorrow.

Did you read the article? Or my post? You even cut out the part where I clarified why you're wrong. I'll do it again though.

Like I said, he said they didn't NEED to trade anybody (obviously posturing). He never said they WOULDN'T trade anybody. In fact, he hinted pretty heavily in that article that they would still be dealing.

Reading comprehension?

Versteeg, Byfuglien, Sopel, Eager. All key pieces to the cup run.
