I don't get how pens can sign both martin and michalek in the same day

Losing Gonchar opened up some extra cap space and created a big hole on their back end.

Wow, I was slow with that ... seems a reasonable deal since Pittsburgh apparently has no salary cap.

And I realize we won't do anything today but its a free agency thread and I miss me some hockey soooo these are my wish lists. Plus I hate twitter and love the updates coming in from you guys. :thumbup:

Unless either of those guys can play wing with Crosby, those guys combined really fill that much of a need for the Penguins. One guy, yeah you can justify that but all of a sudden they look ultra thin on the wing for the next few years now that they've committed all this money to D.

Man, I didn't realize that Pittsburgh has no salary cap.
The Vladinator He earned the NHL Plus/Minus Award in 1995-96, with a plus/minus difference of plus-60. The +60 has been the highest rating a player has finished with in the past 20 seasons, since Wayne Gretzky finished with a +70 in the 1986-87 NHL season

Asham will NOT get 2M. Where did you get that figure from? He's had better years than last year and never had anything more than 900k.

He'll be lucky to get 1M.

When a guy like Gonchar comes off of the books the cap drops dramatically, much like the day Lids hangs them up that is 7 mil in cap space right there.

Asham's best fighting days are behind him (Montreal era) now he looks more to score and less to fight. I would take Asham instead of Cleary - but not as 4th line as Holland is looking at...
