Heh...bulls***. They changed out half their team, because they were the first team to really "buy" a cup under the salary cap.

After watching them work this post-season....I now realize.....they're desperately just trying to fill holes that they could not afford.

Bottom dwellers? Likely not. A Stanley Cup competitor? Yeah sure, maybe, anyone can be.

But next year when they say "The defending Stanley Cup Champions!!!!!!"

I will simply laugh, smirk to myself, and say, "Yeah, a few of them."

At least Pittsburgh, after losing in the finals, primarily kept the same team.

they had a +62 goal differential last year.

we went from a +51 the year before, lost - what was it, 60 or so goals when Hossa, Huds, Sammy left, and finished last year a +13. Injuries had a lot to do with that obviously but Chicago is looking at the kind of swing we saw after last year.

I am more interested to what the plus/minus shift will be. Remember Buff screened goalies, Madden and others did a great grinding job playing defensive forward. I think people forget too often that players, even if they are putting points up also have to make sure the other team isn't... cough cough, not like we have any of THOSE players cough cough.

This could hurt Chicago even more than the points, but that Playoff point count is disgusting.

Love the legwork! These are the posts that make me come to these sites. I apprecate the hell out of it!

One thing you can give them some credit for is that they didn't lose but one player without getting something back... I mean that is somewhat impressive with their cap problems that they get back a bunch of prospects.

They have to have a strong farm system right now, because they had so many bad years and now they have so many prospects from Atlanta and Toronto... who has had so many bad years!

Yeah you have to remember with him that most of his role is that of Homer. Stand in front during the power play where you get no plus for contributing to a goal. To figure out the true plus minus worth of a player remember to remove the points scored on the PP from his total points. That is the amount of pluses he was out there for, and then compare to the negitive to see how many goals he was out there for. If most of his points were on the power play odds are that the amount of goals he was out there for is lower than you would initially think. If he had no power play points what so ever, or very low, and alot of even strength points then you get the idea that he was out for a lot of negitive points.

I always handicap that for players, because that is the only real easy way you can tell a statistical skew for some players.

A cup is always worth wild. If you were to finish in last 50 times in a row and get a cup afterwards then it was worth it. I mean ask Chicago about that, they practically did! lols.
