stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 Definately not alone. Theres quite a few of us who don't want him here. We just keep quiet because we keep having our posts minused I think the only people that are getting bashed are the ones that are over the top - saying he's a shell, waste, etc... 1 hillbillywingsfan reacted to this
Louisville 112 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 Can the people who don't want Modano clarify a little bit? Is it because you want to be sure Ritola has a shot on this team? Is it possible to still retain him if Mike is signed? I mean, injuries are still going to happen no mater what so somebody will have to come in eventually. And please don't give me any of this loyalty to Dallas crap. They spit on him when they took his C away and told him his time there was done. Can you imagine this team doing either of those things to Yzerman or Lidstrom? If he wants to end his career in his home state, and bring in hard work and motivation to the team (a la Dallas Drake) then I see no downside to this. The problem is, that if you want to add any toughness at all in a gritty 4th liner, you have to trade Ritola as well and will already have to deal Miller if Modano is signed, as there will simply not be enough roster spots... EDIT - just explaining by the way - I can see the positives and negatives to both sides. Edited July 9, 2010 by stevkrause

Agreed. There's simply too many roster spots.I think we need some snarl rather than Modano, not downgrading Mike but he simply isn't what we need right now,in my opinion. 1 MidMichSteve reacted to this
Guest mindfly Report post Posted July 9, 2010 What's with the "it's detroit or retirement" Now Sharks and Wild are in the mix http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2010/07/espn_dallas_mike_modano_now_co.html "It would be a fun storyline," Modano said, referring to the fact that he was drafted by the Minnesota North Stars in 1988 and moved with the franchise to Dallas. He played his final game of 2010 in Minnesota, donning an old North Stars jersey as he waved goodbye. "It's the same scenario. I'm listening to what everyone has to say and taking it all in. I still have to decide if I'm going to play." 1 55fan reacted to this

HankthaTank 1,100 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 Blah blah Minnesota. He just went and saw an awesome game at Comerica with the first place Tigers. Nobody wants to go see the 3rd place Twins and have to play that style of hockey and wear those horrific uni's. 2 Hockeymom1960 and F.Michael reacted to this

Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 this is taking an interesting twist. the sharks and wild could offer more than the wings could right? modano wants to be on a contender if he hangs around. that automatically eliminates minnesota. and the sharts? they're probably up against the cap too. i guess he could go there and spend the entire playoffs on the power play. 1 T.Low reacted to this

Slave 31 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 i wouldn't mind him here, but him taking his time signing..first it was only us, now possibly he is interested in other teams.... if he wants to play for us sign by monday, if not then G.T.F.O. The team doesn't need this drama , the fact is we got a great team either with or without Mike for next season, so s*** or get off the pot mikey. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 Someone pro-Modano went on a minus spree on page 24. Some people need to grow up an realise you don't just minus posts you don't agree with. The whole plus/minus thing isn't for people's opinions, it's how they're put across. brett 1,029 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 Umm... how is it a kick in the face to Dallas? THEY were the ones who said they didn't want him back. Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 Your posts are being minus'd because by not wanting to sign Modano you basically admit you don't realize how important depth is because Modano would be an incredible depth signing. Without Modano our bottom 6 is average, with Modano it's one of the best in the league. Combine that with one of the better top sixes in the league and you're looking at making a really deep run in the playoffs. Like I said before, we won in 08 because of our depth. We were out in the second round this year because we had none. 3 HankthaTank, Namingway and Zeowingsfan reacted to this

Add Matt Cullen to that list. Modano is still well-thought of around these parts. Lots of Minnesotans became Stars fans after the North Stars went south (geographically speaking). Even though many have become Wild fans, most of the older folks have retained their allegience. Modano would be welcomed in Minnesota for sentimental reasons. Whether or not it would be fiscally feasible or whether or not he would be a good fit is another story. EDIT: Wrong Cullen. I'm bad with names today!
