I think you're just going a little too drastic with it - I actually would prefer we stay away from him as well(not wanting to give up on Ritola yet without giving him a shot as my main reason)... but I wouldn't hate the signing and can see it's upside as well...

All I have to say about Holland and our off-season:

itd be a big kick in the face to dallas if he doesnt retire with them. hes been there his whole career. but who knows

He would NEVER work here - he was run out of Buffalo for a poor work ethic and takes nights off at a pace that rivals only Alexi Yashin - Babcock would have him in the press box by game 10...

I would take Modano at age 50 over Afinogenov any time. He's fast (when he's not being lazy) and has a decent shot, but never scored more than 24 goals in a season and doesn't play defense. No thanks.

No excitement? Are you kidding?
They announced they wouldn't be keeping Lebda!
They failed to bid for Lang, Kariya, Kovy, AND Schneider.
They didn't trade for Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, Iginla, OR anyone surnamed Staal.
They didn't attempt to lure Forsberg, Sundin, Scott Neidermeyer (pending) or Cloutier out of retirement.

No excitement? What? All of those things we were banking on happening, and they didn't do it? Be still my thundering heart! I can't keep up with the shocking post-season antics around here.

Money on the board:  $40

Thanks for a great season, guys.  You exceeded expectations and have given us something to look forward to as the long summer approaches.

 

And next year we get to start in October, like hockey is SUPPOSED to.

The price would have to be right ofcourse, but why not take a risk on a guy who put up 60+ points last year? I'm very familiar with his problems in work ethic, but perhaps the Wings organization can snap him out of it. And Crymson, try to actually contribute with your posts once in a while instead of just trolling the site and berating everyone else.

I think the only people that are getting bashed are the ones that are over the top - saying he's a shell, waste, etc...

Can the people who don't want Modano clarify a little bit? Is it because you want to be sure Ritola has a shot on this team? Is it possible to still retain him if Mike is signed? I mean, injuries are still going to happen no mater what so somebody will have to come in eventually.

And please don't give me any of this loyalty to Dallas crap. They spit on him when they took his C away and told him his time there was done. Can you imagine this team doing either of those things to Yzerman or Lidstrom? If he wants to end his career in his home state, and bring in hard work and motivation to the team (a la Dallas Drake) then I see no downside to this.
