This is far from official. A 2 year deal is on the table and Modano is likely going to choose the WIngs IF he decides not to retire.

I hope it's not two years. We have too many centers as it is, and there are players in the AHL who need to move up next season (Mursak, Tatar, I. Flip maybe).

I don't understand what the point of adding a second year is if Modano is already contemplating retirement THIS summer. I am not going to call it a bad move as it is premature still, but two years would be a mistake.

If he plays for something at or below 1 mil I can see the two years being possible. Holland could look at it as just spreading the cost out over two years with the possibility of him staying the second year and making it a bargain.

I'm not saying I'm happy with it, just throwing a possibility out there.
