T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted July 8, 2010 Agreed. I've always felt he was a respectable 5/6 Dman on this team, he paired quite well with Lilja, and IMO was better than Meech...Is Burke looking to replace Ian White's speed on the blueline? Now with that said - Burke probably could've gotten him for $1 million per season. I recall a few ex-Leaf Dmen help our beloved Red Wings to a few Cups I agree. I predict he's gonna go Quincy in Toronto. 1 F.Michael reacted to this
titanium2 867 Report post Posted July 8, 2010 I'm thinking Lebda must know somebody in the Leafs organization to get that contract. I was thinking maybe he witnessed some crime Burke committed but the contract isn't that insane for him. I knew it. http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2010/07/brett_lebda_leaves_red_wings_f.html“The first thing that has always stood out is his skating,” saidLeafs assistant GM Dave Poulin, who was also Lebda’s coach at NotreDame. “He’s a very mobile puck-moving defenceman who will complementthe group that we have very well.” Definitely the best way to get a job. Finnish Wing 110 Report post Posted July 8, 2010 (edited) I don't think he got that much overpaid. It's just that Holland always signs these bargain deals. Lebda was easily worth at least 1m on the market. Edited July 8, 2010 by Finnish Wing 1 titanium2 reacted to this

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted July 8, 2010 I hope he does well in Toronto; I never really had anything against him...Just hope he can tolerate the fans/media if he doesn't play up to their expectations. or the size of his contract.
shoe 165 Report post Posted July 8, 2010 I think its a good deal for the leafs maybe paid him 200 000 more than another team would but what they get back is a guy who is used to winning a guy who has been sitting in the press box off and on and wants to play a guy who can get the puck up the ice and out of the zone i think he can be a good 2nd half of a pair for them. Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted July 8, 2010 He had his moments -- the 2009 WCF, for example. But I'd just as well give any other Dman in the Wings' system a try instead. Costs less and probably has a higher ceiling than Lebda. Let it never be forgotten that he recorded a goal and an assist in his first two games in the NHL. You were great once Lebda, what happened? Guest nutz2u Report post Posted July 8, 2010 (edited) How can Lidstrom leave the game as one of the greatest at his position when people can't even spell his name right? Hey, what can you expect when a s***load of them don't know the difference between, their, there and there're. drewicho 1 Report post Posted July 8, 2010 http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=29250&blogger_id=1 This is why I hate Eklund. You couldn't possibly say something that's more out of touch. Not even close. And I can read sub-text...this guy isn't saying this stuff just to be provocative and gain readership--he believes the nonsense he's typing. I'm all for tabloid hockey entertainment, but I can't stand the trying to take an "expert" stance and completely missing the mark, especially when I know there are some dumb-dumbs out there who buy it wholesale. Brett LEBDA!?!?!?! Yeah, I'm crying today because we lost a guy who does the same freakin' move every time--skate up blue-line, fake towards center, move up along boards into offensive zone, realize the defense is covering the pass because it only EVER worked in NHL '94, and shoot 10 feet wide, hitting the Belle Tire sign at the Joe. MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted July 8, 2010 True and could not care less versus could care less. Although I suppose that one is a little more advanced. Standard line anytime somebody "could care less"... If you could care less, you probably would. For some reason, a common error I see is the word "loose" being used for "lose" And of course, confusion between "resign" and "re-sign" 1 55fan reacted to this

Yak19 303 Report post Posted July 8, 2010 (edited) Lebda had great speed i wish he utilized it more here, he did win a cup here and he did have his moments. Im happy for him, he deserves a raise and maybe he can excel with the Leafs as more will be expected from him. check these highlights go to 03/09/2007 (LAK @ DET) 14:02 in 3rd (this Lebda needed to show up more End-to-End with that speed) http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlp=8471187 Edited July 8, 2010 by Yak19 1 F.Michael reacted to this
