You actually thought Holland said that?

Yeah I know. Since it's Lebda I think I just really wanted him to say something like that but ah well.

Can someone link to the TSN comments? I was over there and I don't see any comments on the article or on their message boards.

I pinched myself and I didn't wake up. Is this the real life or is this just fantasy?

Thanks, for some reason those weren't showing up when I went there myself. Maybe it was a slightly different URL or an older article or something.

My personal favorite is this:

Bye Bye Kaberle! I think this is a good deal, very underrated D-man. Detroit fans will be upset.

Those poor Leafs fans won't know what hit them. Or maybe not since they're used to terrible players with bloated contracts.

Was Toronto able to meet his salary demands unlike the KHL?

"All done? Five bucks." - Pavel Datsyuk after an interview
"Very few cities in the NHL have the history or the following of the Detroit Red Wings." - Steve Yzerman

And they think he's got top four potential!

This is what happens when the two teams only see each other once or twice a year. A healthy scratch/seventh D that goes between Detroit and Toronto in the off-season, and gets a savior-like reputation in the new city? With that storyline, I'd have thought we signed Exelby.

Good for Lebda. He can be a solid D-man there. Maybe he can develop into a more offensive Dman. He makes a great first pass out of the zone, skates like wind and has a damn good shot. Good luck Brett and thanks for the beers at Duggan's.

This contract is great for Brett Lebda.

For the Toronto Maple Leafs? Not so much.

Covert Ops has its perks. You travel, make your own hours, and expense most of your meals.
The downside? Lots of people want you dead...

That's ALL Lebda brings to the table at this point. Speed and speed only. Not sure which player you thought you were watching. But Lebda's passing ability is nothing to write home about. His shot has seamed to get worse and worse over the past few years. And he's atrocious defensively. But atleast it sounds like he's great at buying beer. He'll be able to buy even more beer with that insane pay raise Burke just gave him.

I'm thinking Lebda must know somebody in the Leafs organization to get that contract.

I was thinking maybe he witnessed some crime Burke committed but the contract isn't that insane for him.

It would be something to see Lebda paired with Jeff Finger.

My thoughts exactly. I never hated Lebda as much as some here, and his drunken post-cup radio interview is part of Wings Lore for me, but still - $1.45M for a 6/7 defenceman?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! :D

Lets see all the Burke lovers defend this
"If I can be totally honest, it's not a lot of guys you get impressed by. Actually, it's no one else but him. From the bench, to see what move he makes -- you're like, 'I wish I could do that.' Sometimes you sit on the bench and just think, 'wow,' and you look over to the other bench and they sit there and shake their heads, too. He has great, great skills. I'm probably not going to play with another player who has the kind of skills he has." Mikael Samuelsson on Pavel Datsyuk
