Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 There's still plenty of talent and valuable veteran leadership out there.I'm interested to see where the likes of Kariya and Selanne go.Not saying Detroit will pick any of these guys up except may Modano, but here's a list of talent that's still available: *Ilya Kovalchuk-Looks like he'll stay in Newark *Paul Kariya-Still has speed and skill, looking to re-unite with Selanne *Teemu Selanne-Could be Anaheim or retire *Mike Modano-Detroit or retire *Owen Nolan-Grizzly veteran.good locker room presence *Mike Comrie-He's been bouncing around the league, but he's got talent and speed. *Daymond Langkow-looks like his days in Calgary are over with the returns of Alex Tanguay and Olli Jokinen.Still has some offensive upside. *Alexander Frolov-No doubt talented, but his asking price seems a bit high *Raffi Torres-Solid,hard hitting third liner with some offensive upside.Reports say Toronto is among the front-runners for his services. *Arron Asham-Hits,produces points, fights;he's gotta be getting a lot of offers *Craig Conroy-Wiley veteran, would be a good veteran presence for a young team *John Madden-Defensive specialist, excellent faceoff guy.Veteran presence.Knows how to win. *Maxim Afinogenov-Great set of hands and very speedy. *Alexei Ponikarovsky-Never really developed with s***tsburgh *Bill Guerin-Team guy.Grizzly, snarly veteran that will provide whatever a team needs to win. *Willie Mitchell-True shut-down defenseman *Andy Sutton-Hard hitting, stay at home guy. GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 I'd love Mitchell, but he's still probably well out of the Red Wings price range. I prefer Jay McKee to replace Lilja as the 6th d-man. 1 zettie85 reacted to this

Yeah i just put the first group of guys that came to mind, but McKee is a really good option. He's a hell of a shot blocker.I was hoping for some way that we could acquire Mark Stuart from Boston but the Bruins re-signed him today

Mitchell would be awesome. I would love to see him in a Wings uniform. You are right though he is a little expensive.
Buppy 1,720 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 I'm hoping for Nick Boynton to fill the D spot. Decent size, RH shot, hits and blocks shots alright, and was pretty good all-around in Boston pre-lockout. Should be available for around our price range. Plus he'd be yet another FA to leave Chicago, albeit a rather unimportant one.

Guest Crymson Report post Posted July 9, 2010 (edited) The following players will be unavailable to the Wings, due to cap considerations: *Ilya Kovalchuk-Looks like he'll stay in Newark*Paul Kariya-Still has speed and skill, looking to re-unite with Selanne *Alexander Frolov-No doubt talented, but his asking price seems a bit high *John Madden-Defensive specialist, excellent faceoff guy.Veteran presence.Knows how to win. Langkow and Torres are far too injury-prone. Mike Comrie has an atrocious attitude and is an abrasive presence in the lockerroom. Craig Conroy is no longer NHL material. Nolan's asking price will likely be higher than any team is willing to pay; he's simply not very valuable anymore. Selanne will either stay in Anaheim or reitre, as you've said. Asham is decent, but I doubt we'll have the cap space or the roster space for him. Edited July 9, 2010 by Crymson

Hank Dats 'N Homer 81 Report post Posted July 10, 2010 I've always liked Comrie, but we are already stocked with centers. Plus if we sign Modano then we definetly dont need another center. Thoguh i think our biggest weakness is D and we need to sign a good defensemen first and for most in my book.

Guest mindfly Report post Posted July 10, 2010 (edited) What? Where? My bad, he is certain to play another year but hasn't decided which team, although ducks would be the most likely choice right(?) http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/hockey/internationellt/nhl/article7420975.ab Edited July 10, 2010 by mindfly 1 55fan reacted to this

Andy Pred 48 337 Report post Posted July 10, 2010 forget about Madano, if the guy really wanted to be a Wing he would have signed when Kenny called him first. use the cash somewhere else. I keep calling for Kenny to sign Evgeny Artyukhin and i still say that he would be a cult guy here at the Joe. Give him a 2 year deal for $2m, the guy just needs a home. He has untapped talent as well as being the grit we seem to be looking for and could play on anyline. He's only 27 and has his best years ahead of him. Whatever happens Kenny is gunna have to trade away a forward without signing a UFA. Theres too many already. So if he signs Modano or another he'll be moving 2 on, seems like we go with what we have, unless Kenny has a cunning plan up his sleeve. He may surprise us with what he does. Z Dats Hommer Bert Fil Mule Clears Huds Draps Drew Daz Pat Mattias Abby As well as having Meech to either re-up or trade.

Hank Dats 'N Homer 81 Report post Posted July 10, 2010 Comrie is a douchebag, dude. Have you ever heard the things that coaches have said about him? I like how he plays the game. Dont really care if hes a douchebag or not. Avery is the biggest douchebag in the league and hes still one of my favorite players. I never said bring Comrie here, cause i know he would clash with the coaching staff. I just said ive always liked him.

FinWing 26 Report post Posted July 10, 2010 Oh come on... The Wings have Filppula, Teemu. How can he resist? Of course one can always dream. Teemu is just so comfortably set in Anaheim that it's basically his only option if he is to continue playing, especially at this stage of his career.
