KHL President offers Kovalchuk 17-year deal, choice of team

Same 17 year deal, but what about the money? Choice of team? Is the league going to pay for most of the contract?

I would really be concerned as to whether all of the money would end up getting paid on such a deal in the KHL. Who knows where it will be in 10 years. A lot more security in the NHL I think.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of security in the KHL, but that's the risk a player takes when he bolts for Russia. Personally, i think if a player leaves the NHL for the KHL, he shouldn't be allowed back in the NHL once his KHL contract is up for his team folds. That's just me though.

good player, but I seriously don't see why everyone is so up in arms about him. He isn't worth the money he's asking for, f*** him

Absolute win. Couldn't have said it better myself as I have been trying to recently lol. I knew this was on the horizon. Can't get his way here, go get overpaid in the mother land. Peace.

Come back, stay there. Won't really matter to me as long as Pavs doesn't jet home for a year or so. That would be nightmarish. I wish no ill will on these guys but the Kovy situation was more annoying than the Lebron thing mainly because of my love for the game of hockey and my total dislike for bball. If he does come back (which we have this one guy who is coming back to our team next year from there :yowza: Huds) I hope the best for him and he has a horses*** time trying to find a team lol.

H double T, i believe Pavs is far more loyal than that  Indeed, the Kovalchuk situation is annoying and he's not worth the $10 Million per year he'll get wherever he goes. Will he score 50 goals?sure. Will he put up an average of a point per game?Possibly. But when it counts the most, when the pressure is on, he chokes. The regular season means nothing once you get into the playoffs, and $10 Million for a choker doesn't do it for me.

I don't understand the people who are happy to see him leave (If he were to leave the NHL..)

Sure the guy might not be worth the money hes asking, but I don't really care if it's not the wings getting into ridiculous contracts. This guy is an exciting player and one I love to watch, he has his issues but he's still a great player for the game.

The NHL shouldn't let the KHL take away people like Kovalchuck, he is someone who can sell tickets. I hope the contract dispute is resolved and he stays in the NHL.
