Scott Stevens: The Definitive Reel

ill make a reel of vladdy one of these days

He could still be playing right now if it werent for you know what :( He was an NHL legend in the making as well. I wonder how much his rookie card is worth.. I've got one of his rookie cards so i guess i'll have to look into it. But anyways, Stevens and Konstantinov were 2 of the hardest hitting guys of their era. Too bad Vladdy's career was cut short :crybaby:

stop this s*** already. All his "punishing" hits came from the right arm

would you like me to hit you in the head? It is not hockey. It is something different.

How is that not kockey? If you don't like getting hit and possibly take a couple shots in the head, dont play. Guys still get hit in the head today without any penalties being called on the hit. It's always been a part of the game and it always will be, no matter how hard the NHL tries to crack down on the issue, there's always going to be players that head-hunt.

Stevens was one of the best players in the game, he is a first year ballot hall of famer, he had plenty of skill, I just can't see how you can't enjoy and respect him, he is obviously not as good as lids but he is easily in contention with zubov and btw there was a red wings who played exactly like stevens don't forget

It does not matter to me who is going to be inducted to HOF after Bob Gainey. Scott Stevens did have some skill, some of his hits were indeed made according to rules.

PS Who is that Red Wing? Mark How? :)))

are you blind or what? Would you like Boogard headhunting Zetterberg? Boll headhunting Filppula? I'm glad NHL removed this s*** from the best game in the world.

for being easily one of the most skilled and hardest hitting checkers to play the game, he was very clean. all be it some a tad late he kept his shoulder in front with just about all of those. I crafted my hitting game on the blue line just like his and It is the best feeling in the world to destroy some cocky dangler with his head down. That being said i've been caught plenty of times on the other end of these and they were my own fault for having my head down or looking the wrong way. God do i miss scott stevens.

Well in the case that headhunting does happen to some star players, team carry guy(s) that are commonly known as an "enforcer", or a guy that serves as a deterrent for that kind of play, such as head-hunting. Do you see a whole lot of head hunting?no. Does it still happen in the NHL? Absolutely.

Comparing Fedorov and Nabokov to Howe is just damn asinine. But hey, Kontinental Hockey League right?

Combine Nabokov and Fedorov's raw talent and you only have a mere spec of what Gordie Howe brought to the table. That is a bare fact.

This guy was my idol growing up.

What a monster he was. If I could get a guy with Lidstrom's skill and Steven's tenacity and ability to read a hit you would have an all out Norris trophy winning, forward dominating, clutch machine.

Exactly. It's also funny to think of, but this guy had some great offensive talent too. 78 points in 83 games in 93-94.

I'm getting tired with How. Let it be HOWE. It does not change a bit for me.

Head hunting? In the new NHL? No, it does not happen. That is only one aspect I love about it. And there are only few teams that carry enforcers. Most of those are sore losers. See Edmonton, Minnesota (Am I right with spelling? Please, check it, 'cause I'm too nervous:), Atlanta, etc.

:rotflmao: So the Cooke hit on Savard wasn't head-hunting,eh? The Richards hit on Booth wasn't head-hunting? Like i said, it doesn't happen a lot, but head-hunting in the NHL will always exist. Only a few teams carry enforcers?? :hysterical:

*New York Rangers: Derek Boogaard, Brandon Prust

*New York Islanders: Zenon Konopka, Trevor Gillies

*Philadelphia Flyers: Jody Shelley (Some people wouldnt consider Carcillo and Walker as enforcers, but they cause hell as well,so look at it as you will)

*Pittsburgh Penguins-Mike Rupp, Eric Godard

New Jersey Devils-Pierre Luc Letourneau-Leblond

*Buffalo Sabres-Cody McCormick

*Ottawa Senators-Matt Carkner, Chris Neil

*Montreal Canadiens- Well since Laraque was bought out, i'm sure they'll pick someone else up before the start of the sesason.

*Boston Bruins- Shawn Thornton (Gregory Campbell will cause hell, but i wouldn't consider him an enforcer)

*Toronto Maple Leafs-Colton Orr,Mike Brown,Jay Rosehill looks like he'll get more playing time.

*Washington-Newly acquired D.J. King

*Carolina-Looks like Kostopoulos is gonna be doing most of their dirty work, minor leaguers could be brought up

*Florida-Mike Duco(Played mostly in the AHL last year)

*Tampa Bay-Mitch Fritz (Nate Thompson,Steve Downie, and Mathieu Roy will cause hell, but i wouldn't consider any of them enforcers)

*Atlanta Thrashers-Eric Boulton, Chris Thorburn, Ben Eager, Boris Valabik

*Nashville Predators-Wade Belak (Jordin Tootoo)

*St. Louis Blues-Cam Janssen, B.J. Crombeen, Brad Winchester

*Detroit Red Wings- Kenny tends to pick someone up right before the beginning of the season

*Columbus Blue Jackets-Jared Boll, Derek Dorsett

*Chicago Blackhawks-John Scott

*Vancouver Canucks-Rick Rypien, Tanner Glass, Darcy Hordichuk

*Edmonton Oilers-Zack Stortini, Steve MacIntyre, Jim Vandermeer (Colin Fraser, Jason Strudwick, and Theo Peckham will mix it up as well)

*Minnesota Wild-Brad Staubitz (Eric Nystrom isnt gonna shy away either)

*Colorado Avalanche-David Koci, Cody McLeod

*Calgary Flames-Tim Jackman, Raitis Ivanans (Ryan Stone as well)

*Dallas Stars- Krys Barch, Adam Burish, Brian Sutherby

*Phoenix Coyotes- Paul Bissonnette

*Los Angeles Kings-Richard Clune

*San Jose Sharks-Frazer McLaren (Jay Leach and Kent Huskins will mix it up as well)

*Anaheim Ducks-George Parros, Kyle Chipchura, Sheldon Brookbank, Aaron Voros

"Only a few teams" carry enforcers..That's a great one

Wow!!! Could you give all your thanks to Gary expanding the league to what it now is. I'm not even arguing about Chipchuras, Huskins' and GaryNasty or NastyGary... Those do not belong to the NHL. My fault. Never imagined so many trash is carried out.

I would even go as far to say we have a mini-Stevens in Stuie. Lays the body in a ver similar way just not as damaging. Fisch could have been that guy and would love to see Big E elevate his level to something close to that. (wishful thinking there  )

That's a major stretch. Just sayin'. Stevens was a freak.
