Bold Predicitions for the 2010-2011 Season

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I thought that it would fun to post your bold predictions for the upcoming 2010-2011 season.

I think we all have a "gut feeling" about what is going to go down....

I'll start...

  • Sidney Crosby and/or Evgeni Malkin will suffer injuries that will keep them from playing for at least a month.
  • No one on the Wing's top two lines will suffer any injuries that will last more than two weeks.
  • Tampa Bay, Calgary, Carolina, and Anaheim will all make it to the post season.

You're turn.

-Florida will avoid making history and finally make the playoffs for the first time in 10 years.

-Without Nabokov in goal San Jose will miss the playoffs, but will lose the division by less than 10 points as the Pacific is the weakest in hockey this year as LA is the only team to make playoffs.

-Babcock handles the goalie situation properly this year and we have two very hot goalies heading into the playoffs. Osgood will start in the playoffs.

Not So Bold

-Turco will be benched by the Hawks at some point during the season, though he will be given a second chance because they will have no choice.

-The Rangers, in spite of offseason changes, will find a way to just barely miss the playoffs again.

-Due to the current top-heavy nature of the East, Tampa Bay will slip into the playoffs.

-Halak will find life in the West much more difficult and have trouble adjusting his game

Bold

-The Kings, Preds, and Avs (seeds 6-8 last year) will all miss the playoffs

-Ovechkin will end someone's career with a cheap hit, and get a perfunctory "Superstar Suspension" that won't exceed ten games

-The Caps will fire Bruce Boudreau after another first or second round exit.

I think the most unrealistic part of the prediction is that you have about 10 guys having career years and others having improving years over last year.

That's why they are called "bold predictions"! The only thing more bold than career year predictions, is predicting that everyone has a crappy season.

EDIT: I count only about 7 players who I predicted to have career years. And I expect people to improve from year to year.

You got me there.

Edit: In terms of 10, these are the guys I was thinking of (I didn't go to check the stats to make sure, so I'm probably wrong):

1. Datsyuk

2. Zetterberg

3. Franzen

4. Filppula

5. Cleary

6. Ericcson

7. Helm

8. Eaves

9. Miller

10. Abdelkader

The Lightning will make the playoffs as a #7 seed and knock out the Devils in the first round.

The Wings will win the division handily with the league's lowest total number of fighting majors.
