Would You Buy A Modano Jersey?

There are already Modano Wings jerseys on eBay. When am I gonna see a player tee?

I wouldn't get a Modano jersey, but I just don't have the money to swing it. I've got a blank jersey I'm having customized, but it'll say Kronwall on it. I also have a Stevie Y jersey that I've given to my Dad and a Shanahan jersey from back in the day. Though, I've gotta say, watching the '97 and '98 Cup wins makes me think maybe I should put Shanny's name on this new one, since the old one definitely doesn't fit.

I understand your view you don't want to run out and buy one. But why are you so extremely against it? He grew up in Michigan a Wings fan, was on the Little Caesars team and represented the US in two olympics and now he's coming here with a great attitude and taking what we can pay him given our Cap situation. It's not his fault the Stars drafted him, but they did and he represented them with loyalty and class. I don't see how you can't have some respect for the guy coming back by choice when the team he had loyalty to dumped him.

Speaking only for myself, I have respect for Modano -- I haven't read anything that would make me disrespect him. The reason I have no interest in buying a Modano Wings jersey is partly financial and partly he's not a long-time Red Wing. That's nothing against the guy personally, as you said it's not his fault Dallas drafted him and not Detroit.

I think you maybe grabbed the wrong quote? I'm not against it at all.. I just can't afford all the jerseys I want, haha.

Ive wanted a CCM vintage North Stars Modano jersey for years, so if I were to throw down on a Modano jersey, it would be that one.

I would also throw down on a Modano wings jersey after first copping the North Stars CCM if I had the cash, but I really ******* HATE reebok jerseys, and having a CCM style redwings modano jersey would just look stupid since he didnt play in that brand/style of jersey as a red wing.

so based on my hatred of reebok premier jerseys, I guess I wouldnt buy a Modano wings jersey, although I would really want one if it didnt have to be a horribly overpriced and form fitting reebok premier.

I think I'm in the stark minority, but I much prefer the Reebok jerseys to the old CCM/Nike jerseys. I like that they're slimmer fitting, that was my gripe about the old jerseys.

I'd have no problem with a Modano jersey, but I won't be picking one up. I'm stoked that the hometown boy is likely to close out his career in his old stomping grounds and will applaud the s*** out of him from my couch here in CA during his Detroit debut...but I save my jersey funds for long standing players on a given team. I'm still rounding out my collection of original six jerseys, and Modano/Detroit just doesn't fit that mold.

Definately not. Modano will probably only be here for a year, so I don't really see the point. If I were to spend 150 bucks on a jersey, it would be for guys like Yzerman, Shanny, McCarty, then current players who have long contracts.

No Modano jersey or shirt. I am mulling over an Abby shirt if I am going to get one or Howie. Either way I will just about always lean toward my Hank 08 Finals jersey to be worn in just about all game watching or just hanging around situations.

Ditto. I think it's rad that Mo's come back to Detroit (was a little miffed when he said "Detroit or retire" and then all of a sudden the Wild & Sharks popped into the picture, but since he did end up with us and kept his word, I'm over it and just happy about the whole thing...anyway), but I'm not made of money and am saving up for a Datsyuk jersey at the moment, and it'd be nice to have an Yzerman one also, so I need to get the basics covered before I even start thinking about anything else. I'd totally get a t-shirt, though. I don't know if I'll actually end up buying one, but that's do-able, anyway.

No reason other people shouldn't get a jersey, though; he seems like a nice guy (a little dingy, perhaps, but he's playing for the Wings, not trying to get into Harvard), he's had a great career, and he's from Detroit. Sounds like a good deal to me, if you're looking for something beyond the usual suspects.
