"But don't be shocked if the Wings make another move to secure another scoring forward at a bargain price."

I would be pretty shocked if that happened actually. I am not quite sure what the author is thinking on that one.

from twitter:

"The Stanley Cup is currently filled with Buffalo wings. Was told Cup handlers had to call to double-check before giving okay on that one"

http://twitter.com/Rachel__Nichols

So the cup is filled with wings.

Perhaps a good omen?

If the wings win the cup next year i will personally mail patrick kane a case of beer.
You may not like tough hockey, but it's winning hockey.

OK, but be sure that it's really cheap beer and put it old plastic bottles so he doesn't get the 20 cents for returning the cans.

Money on the board!  Current total: $7

$1 for each goal scored by a current Wing after whom I've named a hamster.  +$5 if one scores a hat trick.

+$1 if a GWG.  +$5 if it is a GWG in a series-winning game.+$50 if it is the GWG that wins us the Cup.

$5 for each time a goalie after whom I've named a hamster prevents all opposing shots from going in the net.

The hamsters names are as follows (current Wings in red)

Henrik Pavel Tomas Nicklas Dominik

Niklas Matthieu Daniel Robert

Johan Andreas Valtteri Jonathan

Andrew (Drew) Patrick Ian Todd

Jordin Damien Gustav James

I'm not sure I get the whole "reclaiming former glory" angle. Last season wasn't exactly a bust, injuries or not. And the 2 or 3 seasons before that were pretty good, too. Not like they're just recovering from some 49-year lull...

+1 Miss the finals one year and you're claiming former glory?

The Blackhawks reclaimed former glory. Doesn't lessen my excitement for the season to start.
