so as i'm watching game 7 of the 2003 cup I started thinking about the similarities between the 2000-2003 Devils and the 2008-2011 Wings are.

NJ 2000:Wins cup in 6 games
NJ 2001:Lost game 7 in finals after having 3-2 lead in series
NJ 2002:First round loss
NJ 2003:Won cup in 7 games

DET 2008:Wins cup in 6 games
DET 2009:Lost game 7 in finals after having 3-2 lead in series
DET 2010:Second round loss
DET 2011:?

with the exception of the game 7's(NJ road, DET home) and which round the teams lost after the game 7 loss they are the same results.

Is this foreshadowing or just a coincidence?

that would be a coincidence. unless it gives you hope then, yeah, foreshadowing. definitely foreshadowing.

You forgot '03 - New Jersey won again

Those 3 teams were the most dominant in the league at that point. It's kinda sad to see the Avs being so bad now. I wish that that rivalry still raged, because those were greatf****** games.

Hopefully they play like they have something to prove, like in 08 after the loss to the Ducks and played like they wanted it from the start of the season till the end of the post-season.

I hope our team will never be as infinitely boring as those teams were to watch.

The Devils more than any other team prompted the idea of a "new NHL" with different rules and less trapping.
