Thank god...they delayed it for too long

So now they have 24 players signed and atleast 1 has to be moved?

But... but... but I thought Modano's signing wouldnt allow the Wings retain their young players

I thought he had to get at least a 5% raise off his ELC.

That must be based on the previous seasons' salary. Last year, Abdelkader's base salary was $710,000 with a potential performance bonus of $140,000 (which he must not have met). Since he made more than $660k but less than $1 million he was due a 5% raise, which would've put him at no less than $745,5000. Not too shabby if you're Ken Holland!

According to Craig Custance's twitter, he is a sporting news hockey writer

"Told that Justin Abdelkader's annual salary is $787,000 on two-year deal he signed with Red Wings."

If true, Great Deal for the Wings!

Hey! looks like what I reported from when I spoke with him at the bar is actually more true than what other posters tried to claim. I guess he knows more about his contract business than LGW posters do....who woulda thunk!??
