Andy Pred 48 337 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 with most fans on here pre-guessing who Kenny is going to cut loose or trade with the current roster 2 players over the limit, could he have any more surprises up his sleeve. General opinion is that 2 of Ritola, Miller and Meech will be traded or waived. But with the amount of UFA's still out there, could Kenny get another bargain? Is there any player out there that you think may be interesting the top brass, or will they go with what they have a nd have a few invitees at trg camp and see what happens? Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 I think that we'll have some invities at training camp, but I also think that we probably will go with what we have! 24 forwards now and 7 D, I think someone would have to shock the s*** out of the coaching staff to be rewarded another spot. I simply do not see the Wings doing anymore roster moves until the trading deadline! But who knows!
Jedi 1,865 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 Anyone else we look at signing means another player who is already on the roster has to be moved. We're looking at most likely trading Meech and either Miller or Ritola for picks/prospects only, for the same reason. If we pick up a roster player, we haven't really accomplished anything. Anything's possible, of course, but I would be very surprised if any further signings/deals are made (other than moving the aforementioned players).
WorkingOvertime 536 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 IMO the only player the Wings would pick up is a Downey type. Kenny is probably shopping both Miller and Ritola. If there are good offers for both, I could see them going. With Mursak, Tatar, and I. Flip in the AHL, the Wings have the depth to move both Ritola and Miller if they choose. I would put the chances at ~25% though.
RedWings Gone Wild 6 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 We have no use for the guy and he's over the hill... but damnit I want Kozlov to retire a Wing!

Rivalred 630 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 Oh please no! Dunno if he'll be capable of cracking the line up when considering he was outta the league last year...As much as I'm happy with Holland - just wish he'd bring in some snarl. Sean Avery?
hooon 1,089 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 We might be able to squeeze in Kovalchuk as our 4th line fighter. 1 Branton87 reacted to this
RinkRat82 3 Report post Posted August 25, 2010 stick a fork in her its done barring a holly s*** moment . Meech is gone I love what the guy did but id rather have Miller leave than Ritola .
13dangledangle 958 Report post Posted August 25, 2010 (edited) Kenny is going to deal again/still dealing, but I'm certain we have our roster for the start of the season set already. Mr. Holland will deal for Picks and prospects from here on out...until the season play's out a little and we get to see what's what...(the ninja is Ken Holland) Edited August 25, 2010 by 13dangledangle 1 lil Wing's fan reacted to this
newfy 695 Report post Posted August 25, 2010 There is a possibility that a bigger deal then we thought could be in the works. I doubt it but there is a possibility for sure. Maybe he has trouble getting anything for Meech and instead Kindl is moved for a solid prospect opposed to a 5th rounder for Meech.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted August 25, 2010 How about... Drop Miller, Ritola, and Meech.. Sign McGrattan at league minimum
IILeiBlazeII 15 Report post Posted August 25, 2010 Sean Avery? I'd *KILL* to have son-of-a-you-know-what back on this hockey club... but his paycheck is WAAAAAAY too high for his skill level. Alas.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted August 25, 2010 The off-season is pretty much done. The trade deadline, however, might be another story.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted August 25, 2010 There is like a 5-10% chance of another signing... It would be dependant on someone calling ken up and giving up something to get three players Meech and Miller/Ritola being two of them, and a third that would allow the signing to fill that role. I don't see anyone on the team that fits that build... So unless this is how Holland turns Meetch and leftovers into high draft picks or prospects, it is not going to happen. Well, i know i sound like a broken record, but there's still plenty of gritty guys looking for a job.. newfy 695 Report post Posted August 25, 2010 Last year we all thought the roster was set and then May came around so I wouldn't say we're done yet. I wouldn't mind seeing Hendricks signed. You could put him in GR for if there are any injuries, he had 9 goals in 56 games (one less than Miller in way less games), he's young so a year down the road when Holland wants a tough guy we dont have to sign an old washed up guy, and he had 10 fights last season. He may not be a heavyweight but he can handle all the pests for sure. I don't think he should be on the team this year but toss him in the AHL and save him for the future

I feel Hendricks is NHL-ready, though. Shows an offensive upside, like you said, and he doesn't shy away from the rough stuff. I'd be ecstatic to see him as a 13th/14th forward here, and fill in for injuries. I'm really surprised he hasn't signed on with anyone yet.
