This really is an excellent article. I think Steve will have a lot of success in Tampa Bay this year and down the road. Sure, they may not be a Cup contender this year, but I think they will be playoff bound this year and many years to come. It still is my hope that when Holland retires, they will get permission to talk to Yzerman about taking the job in Detroit.

In the thread about Babcock's extension, someone noted that Babcock was groomed to be the coach of the Red Wings. I think when Holland retires, it is a sure thing that Yzerman will be coming back here. He knows that this is his home, and he belongs with the Red and White.

I loved that he almost said he was "in it to win it", but now I have that damned Kid Rock song in my head.

It may take 5yrs...hell, he's plenty young enough, it may take 10. But I too have to think he'll be back. I may never live in the Detroit area a gain, but I sure as hell hope he does.

I watched Yzerman on T.V every other night from the day I was born. I wish him the cup in years to come, and I hope he finds his way back home to Detroit one day. I must agree with him, "that red and white is a beautiful jersey."
