Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted September 27, 2010 (edited) Figured since there were so many injuries last season, it deserves its own thread for this year. And already, we have a serious injury. NYI defenseman Mark Streit could miss up to six months. The New York Islanders' chances of returning to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2007 may have suffered a huge blow. The team announced Sunday that Mark Streit, the team's No. 1 defenseman, will be out indefinitely with a left shoulder injury suffered when he crashed into the boards during a scrimmage at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Saturday morning. Newsday is reporting Streit will miss six months after suffering a torn rotator cuff and labrum. Streit, one of the Islanders assistant captains, has played the last two seasons on Long Island, totaling 27 goals and 105 points. In his first year with the Islanders, Streit led the team in scoring with 16 goals and 56 points. He also represented the team at the 2009 All-Star Game in Montreal. Last season, the native of Bern, Switzerland led all Islanders defenseman in scoring with 11 goals and 49 points. Streit, 33, was primed to be paired with James Wisniewski, who was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks this summer. zombi 43 Report post Posted September 27, 2010 Harding is out with ACL and MCL injuries. It's projected that he'll be out the entire season with those injuries. I would say that is the worst the NHL has seen so far this (pre)season.

Shady Ultima 40 Report post Posted September 28, 2010 Charly Horses and Groin injuries tend to be common in preseason, especially among vets. The other players aren't on the team and aside from a miracle, only Ritola has a chance at cracking the lineup.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted September 30, 2010 According to MLive, he just tweaked it and was replaced by Tatar in the lineup last night. Hopefully that's all it is. The Flyers will have a pretty interesting situation in goal again, with Boucher getting the start for the beginning of the season. If he plays well, are they going to go back to Leighton when he returns? Possibly. Too bad that he got hurt.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted October 2, 2010 Chicago defenseman Brian Campbell(notes) left the game early in the second period with an undisclosed injury and did not return.Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville didn’t elaborate on Campbell’s condition after the game. “We’ll see,” Quenneville said. “He’s going to be re-evaluated by the doctors tomorrow. He was hit along the boards and it didn’t look like it was malicious.” Asked if Campbell would be available for Chicago’s regular-season opener Thursday in Colorado, Quenneville again said, “We’ll see.”
