The Los Angeles Kings say that Justin Williams will miss the rest of the season after he suffered a dislocated shoulder on Sunday.

The injury occurred during the third period of the Kings' shootout victory over the Calgary Flames when the 29-year-old Williams collided with Flames' defenceman Robyn Regehr.

Kopitar out for the rest of the year with torn ankle ligaments. Initially they thought it was a broken ankle, but an MRI revealed torn ligaments. Ouch. Real tough break for LA and Kopitar. Hopefully he comes back strong next year.

LOS ANGELES -- Kings forward Anze Kopitar will have surgery Wednesday to repair torn ligaments in his severely sprained right ankle.

An MRI exam on Monday confirmed Los Angeles' leading scorer needs corrective surgery that will keep him out indefinitely.

Ottawa Senators head coach Cory Clouston says captain Daniel Alfredsson is "unlikely" to play again this season.

Also, indications are that Sergei Gonchar (concussion), Erik Karlsson (lacerated thigh) and Marek Svatos (concussion) will also not play again this season for the Sens.

In the third period on Tuesday night, Chicago Blackhawks forward Troy Brouwer(notes) had Lars Eller(notes) of the Montreal Canadiens lined up for a big defensive zone hit. But Eller moved, Brouwer missed and flew into the boards to cause an apparent shoulder injury.

Some have speculated that it might be a separated shoulder.
