DETROIT -- Here is the Detroit Red Wings lineup -- line combinations, defense pairings and goaltenders -- for Friday's preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Joe Louis Arena (7 p.m., Fox Sports Net Detroit):

Pavel Datsyuk-Henrik Zetterberg-Tomas Holmstrom

Johan Franzen-Valtteri Filppula-Todd Bertuzzi

Jiri Hudler-Mike Modano-Dan Cleary

Kirk Maltby or Mattias Ritola-Cory Emmerton-Jan Mursak

Nicklas Lidstrom-Jakub Kindl

Brad Stuart-Brian Rafalski

Brian Lashoff-Niklas Kronwall

Joey MacDonald

Thomas McCollum

Coach Mike Babcock originally planned on playing Chris Osgood in goal but said he'll split MacDonald and McCollum, who'll be playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins. Jimmy Howard will play Saturday in Toronto and Osgood will play in the preseason finale Sunday at home against Pittsburgh.

This is the best lineup the Red Wings have used thus far in the preseason, featuring their top three lines.

Kindl, who Babcock has liked thus far in the preseason, will get a chance to play with Lidstrom, whose regular partner, Kronwall, is playing with Lashoff.

-- The Red Wings assigned five more players to Grand Rapids Thursday: forwards Tomas Tatar, Francis Pare, Brent Raedeke and Jamie Johnson and goalie Jordan Pearce.

Detroit has 35 players on its training camp roster.

I like! Kindl with Lids, and Lashoff is in. Babs, thanks for reading my mind!

I hope its Ritola instead of Maltby.

Otherwise, it'll be nice to finally see what some of these lines can do together in a somewhat normal rotation. I have really high hopes for all three of those top lines. Good to see Kindl get some real minutes too.

When I read the title I was like yes Im sick of loosing to the leafs in preseason dosnt matter if its preseason or not the leaf fans around here seem to think if they beat detroit they will win something special, all i got for you is a round of golf with an early tee time.

BUT THEN.... The goaltenders????????? ack! why why why. Better win dammit I wanna put flags up on my car on Saturday

Are you ashamed of your team if they lose? Why not put the flags on your car either way.

we always seem to lose when playing the leafs

this a very said fact of life =/ good thing we haven't played the Leafs in a game that's meant anything to either team (well, maybe it has to the Loafs), since the early 90s playoffs... but that's when I was fortunately too young to understand what was happening in the world of hockey!

all I have is YouTube and Wikipedia to experience the shock, shame, and sadness of a playoff loss to TML :(
