Or the "he knows the system the best" call-up.Maltby is probably going to get the call up, "loyalty".
Since he signed a one year contract it wouldn't. The two-way only has to do with how much he's actually getting paid while in the minors, it has no effect any other way. The fact he re-signed with a one year deal means his salary comes off the book. If he signed for more than one year, his cap hit would count against our cap.Out of curiosity how does the 2 way contract and the fact Maltby is 37 affect our cap should he retire?

As it looks like Maltby may be retiring, I would like him to play at least one game this regular season, and then call it quits (and perhaps fill the Verbeek vacancy?).
There is talk that this may happen.

New e-book: The Spanish-American War: A Brief History. Relatively short, introductory read for casual history buffs and people who want to learn more about a forgotten war that changed America. Available at BN.com, Smashwords, Kobo, and Diesel E-Books right now. Same link as above.

Thanks Konnan, much appreciated.
Hopefully everyone can get healed, if it is Maltby's last game lets make it one to remember.

Ken Holland: He’s (Mursak) a young guy, provides energy, can skate, he’s a puck hound.

Because of the salary cap.Why the HECK didn't we put Draper/Abby on short term IR and give Ritola a week to prove himself? Gosh.

Yet being able to call up Maltby, on the same salary as Ritola, makes sense how...Because of the salary cap.

Maltby has not been officially recalled. It is just speculation at this point.

Maltby had to clear waivers too, dude. Someone had to be sent down, we were at our roster limit. Ritola (and Maltby) just couldn't cut it when given the chance. How many chances does he need?Yet being able to call up Maltby, on the same salary as Ritola, makes sense how...
You make it sound like Maltby was a preference over Ritola.
