Why couldn't Draper be put on IR at the beginning of the season, and we could have kept Ritola around a little longer. Also possibly buy more time to work on a trade.

trade for?

Abdelkader has yet to play a game? In form abdelkader should be able to beat Miller... but Helm and eaves aren't locks either... hmmm

In Ritola's defense, they got creamed by Florida 6-0, so no one on Tampa played well.

this is very true, they looked horrible as a whole that night...

however, from what I watched of the game, he was pretty invisible when he WAS on the ice, so that's never a good sign sign for a player getting his first game with a new team...

When everyone IS healthy, that 4th line should be Abdelkader-Helm-Eaves night in and out, I think Miller has played very well and done everything expected of him, so this is not to say that he doesn't deserve the ice time, it's just that those 3 deserve it more based on skill set alone...

It should be, but will it be? Why was Miller the one getting 2nd line time while Franzen is out? It seems he is higher on the depth chart than Eaves. I don't know why, Miller is just a solid player, while Eaves has way more offensive potential.

At the moment I think Eaves would do better on the point on the 2nd pp as he has a good shot and is right-handed and will be able to back-check if he would f*** up with the puck sometime, if you're gonna use two lefties on the points they better be daaamn good, and well modano isnt daaamn good anymore...

I was wondering this too. Miller filled in on the 'higher' lines last year when injuries stuck. Maybe Babcock likes keeping Helm and Eaves together.

Hope MUle and Abs are healthy, indifferent about draper

Really? You can be indifferent to Drapes being in the lineup, but can you really be indifferent about someone needing surgery?

In Ritola's defense, they got creamed by Florida 6-0, so no one on Tampa played well.

When you get creamed 6-0 by Florida, no one on your team is NHL-calibre

and while Miller was getting some 2nd line minutes with Franzen out, Eaves was getting a few first line minutes with Z and Dats... so I don't think it was necessarily as much a matter of who Babs thinks higher of, but who fits better where... Eaves is a RW by nature and Bert has been playing on the R side for that line, so maybe Babs just didn't want to mess with the line chemistry by putting players out of their comfort zones just to make it happen...

I like them both, actually, I just like Eaves upside more...

Ericsson has a bulging disc or something like that right? How serious is that? Any medical people on here?

I just had surgery to repair a bulging disc a few months ago (which is sticking out again btw). Its quite painful depending on how bad it is. Imagine getting stabbed in the spine with every movement (at least that what I feel like). On top of that, the disc can be pressing on the nerves in the spinal cord causing a numbing, tingling feeling throughout your extremities (which is actually quite painful/annoying)

Ive had it as well as a result of a car accident 10 years ago. Its not nice at all... and your description is perfect. I can't imagine skating with a bulging disc.

If its a disc thing, it may be a bit more time than origionally thought.
