Wingzman91 134 Report post Posted October 21, 2010 I can't believe this is being argued still, even with all the newer evidence, its still against the law to put your hands on anyone like that. I don't care how you were raised, if your old school, new school, home school, if you think its acceptable to hit players with sticks over the head....whatever your backward logic is, YOU CAN NOT TOUCH A FAN. period. This guy deserves everything humanly possible thrown at him, within the limit of the law. The law everyone else was following but Rypien. Just because you are at a game, does not mean you are a paid professional, if a tiger attacked me at the circus, you guys would say, well, you are made of meat. You think he would have done that in Vancouver? He wouldn't be playing the rest of the season by team choice then. Glass would have gone a long way here, and i'm sure somewhere down the line, the teams have been warned, after this suit they will fix it and it will be a non-issue. If you don't think that these companies legal budgets are factored into your ticket price, then you are naive. See ya next year Rypien, when Van fans are blaming you for the non-cup...... dobbles 252 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 good call i think. i think most would have liked a few more games. but personally, i think it was a pretty minor incident.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 Geez, all that build-up for just six games? That was terribly anti-climactic.
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 6 x 3 = 18.
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 Six games? Lame. Vancouver's board has over 1,000 posts on this issue. I found the most hilarious one to be, "If I was the Vancouver fan behind the WIld fan who messed with Ripper, I would have introduced my fist to his face." MotorCityMadness 388 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 I would have given him 8 if I were the one making the decision...not sure why, but 8 just seems a bit more fitting
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 8 would be fine with me. However, it's not like they're exactly going to be missing him.
Guest Howard He Do It?! Report post Posted October 22, 2010 Didn't Rypien miss a game while suspended indefinitely? So it's more like 7 games.
dobbles 252 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 Didn't Rypien miss a game while suspended indefinitely? So it's more like 7 games. pretty sure that game he missed is part of the 6. so it will be that game and 5 more. i think.
Travis 576 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 pretty sure that game he missed is part of the 6. so it will be that game and 5 more. i think. This exactly. As part of the NHL's announcement they addressed the fact that the 1st game he sat out counts as part of the 6.
seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 6 x 3 = 18. That's almost an entire period!
SweWings 45 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 Seems like an ok amount. The guy doesn't have any history of doing anything remotely close to this so that likely limited the amount of games to 6. How many games do you think these guys would've gotten? 2 redwingmachine and Hockeymom1960 reacted to this

hooon 1,089 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 Well that's just stupid. Yeah, I agree. Not that I really care either way, just seems like it should be a few more, if not based on the incident itself, then based on how STUPID Rypien is to even let the incident happen. dobbles 252 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 I heard yesterday that two of them got 6 games, including Mike "The Shoe Shiner" Milbury, and one of them got 8 games. Who knows what it would be now... milbury was on nhl live yesterday and when asked he said he thinks he would have at least gotten half a season and probably a full season in todays environment. kinda funny to think how we have all turned into such ******* about this. 2 ManLuv4Clears and Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
Guest screwdahawks Report post Posted October 22, 2010 What he did was stupid but the NHL is more f***in stupid for handing out 2 game suspensions for head shots and 6 games because they are embarrassed by a players behavior. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 I'm surprised how small the suspension is, considering how players have been suspended for much more in player vs. player interactions. You'd think attacking a fan for no reason would get treated more severely than a cheapshot on a player. 1 commadore183 reacted to this
