Howard had some good saves and was completely hung out to dry by his defense, but when the D finally got their heads out of their asses he lets in a brutal go-ahead goal. He also seemed to be way too out of position in the third period. Didn't end up costing him but there were a few scary points in the game. He didn't have a "horrible" game, but it wasn't that great, either. Either way we got the two points. Cleary must love the last couple minutes of a game because he actually gets to play with Dats and Z instead of being stuck with Hudler and Modano. He did a lot of hard work in those final minutes keeping the puck deep and in the Wings' possession. They could put together a lowlight real of Modano's half-assed puck pursuit. I'd rather just have them try and get through it and play better than breaking up the bottom pairing lines. BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 The only thing surprising about this win is that it wasn't sealed until there were < 20 seconds left in the game. The Wings deserved to win 13-3. The Selanne goal wasn't the best for Jimmy to let in, but Jimmy was good enough and the Wings beat a goalie who was outstanding despite allowing 5 goals. Terrific game by Zetterberg. Datsyuk is just ridiculous. Ridiculous. Every time he has the puck, something good happens. The most exhilarating player I've ever watched, and I'm pretty old. Howard played a good game, not excellent, but not poor. Winning 5 of their 7 games really shows what this team is made of. I feel that this team is going to get better as time goes on. I expect to see the chemistry form in the 3rd line and the defense will get better when Rafalski comes back. All around good game, and now they can rest up until next week Thursday. The 4th goal is not the softy that you are trying to make it out to be and none of the other 3 goals had anything to do with Howard. So again, how did he have a pretty rough game? Put abdelkader on the third line for starters... don't know what to do with modano, 5mins a night in a 4th line and double shift someone the other minutes as a 4th line center... It's the same way with Ozzie, many just look at the numbers instead of the actual game at hand. Defense was pretty bad at times, the only goal I'll nail Howie with would be the 4th goal between the legs, but otherwise someone on the D defecated the bedsheets. Not an excellent game from him, but he made many of the stops that he needed to keep the Wings in the game, despite the unintentional sabotage from the defense.
