Cheerleaders for Canadian NHL team a first

per month or per year?

per season.

edit, I actually looked and found this:

After clicking through a few of the official sites, we finally found one that stated exactly how much their cheerleaders make per game. On the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders page, we clicked on the "2003 Audition Information" link and then selected "Rules and Regulations." It states:

Cheerleaders are paid $50.00 per home game.

There is no pay schedule for rehearsals.

Opportunities for paid appearances and shows are available!

So for the privilege of being one of the lucky 30 or 40 who make the final cut, the Cowgirls stand to earn approximately $500 ($50 x 10 home games).

Surely it's just because I'm an "ugly broad", but I think cheerleaders in general are pretty silly. They don't make much of a difference in getting people into the building, or getting victories for the team. Not that any of the other stuff that the Wings currently do during intermission or commercial breaks does. Except the pizza toss, of course. It provides people with free and delicious pizza.

Also, blah blah gender roles yadda yadda, inequality, blah blah, is this the way we want to encourage little girls to be a part of the game of hockey and so on and so forth.

ah, ok. that's a relief.

although i was really surprised about their 'salaries' being so pathetic. what's the point of even paying them? they might as well be volunteers.

perhaps it just the cynical side of me, being as how I am an ugly broad here, but I doubt any of them are there for the career move or resume.

Anyone who needs a cheerleader to know when to cheer at a hockey game lives in Nashville. And I hope the Wings NEVER stoop to ice scraping chickies and "cheerleaders". My game has already been pooped on enough by this sort of 'innovation.' <_<

There are plenty of places to go oogle half-clad girls. Does it have to lap over (no pun intended) into the NHL?

Andrew Krystal on the FAN590 today was commenting on the Edmonton Cheerleaders. I'm not the this type of guy, but I found what he said funny! He mentioned the Edmonton cheerleaders were a little over weight and said, "Tell these women they have 1% milk now", and added, "These are the kind of girls if you're dating them and someone sees you with them in your car, you make up an excuse saying, 'No she's not my girl friend, she's dating my buddy and needed a ride to the airport'".
