take your licks like a man and get close to the boards (not ON the boards, but close) and turn INTO your check, even initiating contact when possible... you will be more protected and will also take less brunt of the hit due to the absorption of the initiation... this is how the game is SUPPOSE to be played...
All I have to say about Holland and our off-season:
and finally
Holland is a damn good GM. period.

The Briere Cross-Check/Carcillo cheap shot? What happened at the end of the game is the real story.
HankthaTank - Squirrels, they hate to be thrown. / Why is the magical unicorn named Brian... Jedi - I just downloaded the "kids" book, "Go the F--k to Sleep" as narrated by Samuel L. Jackson on my kindle. I am now ready to be a daddy. / *Checks Router* No, I'm positive I didn't hit the "Wings Defense Sucks" button. Electrophile - I'm just glad the Wings were able to win despite the Curse of Brian. ACallToArms - I think Trey needs to put something about payroll tax and deferred income in his sig... Edicius - I'd rather [have] a soundbite of me saying "I like (man sausage)" rather than "I like Crosby".

That would be admitting fault... the NHL is NEVER wrong!I don't understand why the NHL cannot rule on this after the fact the same way they rule after the fact on hits that do not get called but are then suspension worthy. Since this was such a terrible call, can't the league at least rule that it was a bad call and will correct it in the future?
*cough*
trapezoid, automatic instigator rule, hockey in Phoenix, hockey in Atlanta, glow puck, overseas games to start the season, back to back games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Gary Bettman, etc, etc...
*cough*

This is the verbage from the USA Hockey rule book regarding that (I know its not the NHL book, but carries the same idea):
Rule 604 (B)
When a player injures an opponent as the result of
“boarding,” the Referee shall have no alternative but to
impose a major plus a game misconduct penalty on the
offending player.
