Highly debatable.

Osgood had a solid game against Nashville. And a very solid game against Chicago.

Ok. So we can agree that Osgood is a has been and Joey is a never was. Or is Ozzy not a has been yet?

Either way. The skillset that Ozzy has been showing SINCE 09 can't be much better than anything Joey is projected to bring.

Joey has bounced from team to team, including ours twice.

Nowhere during any of his stays (even when on a Vesa Toskala driven Maple Leaf team) did anything think he was a recognizable piece. Even with the Islanders he couldn't secure a backup role. Now he is back here simply as a depth goaltender to keep our prospects from coming up too early, and somehow you think he has any projections to improve past where he is now?

I'm not in denial about anything. I don't think Osgood is going to carry this team, or even that he is a suitable starter at this point.

You on the other hand are making baseless assumptions and crapping on Osgood because it is in your nature to be negative about anything and everything. You are a joke.

Solid is a stretch. Did you watch the Nashville game? He was more aggressive. That's about it.

That's really where we differ then. I'm not confident that Osgood can deliver as a backup, despite a win against Nashville. I'm doubting that he has many timely saves left in the tank.

I don't know that Joey will play in Edmonton because those kids in Edmonton are good, this is not the same Oilers team from the last couple of years! These kids can put the puck in the net! I would bet Joey plays in Vancouver, because we all know Looooooooouuuu will give up goals from the blue line all night long!!

And Honestly these negative comments about Ozzie need to stop, sure he is in a bit of a bind now, but he has ALWAYS pulled through ( no pun on the pulled part). Ozzie is a professional with 3 rings and being a backup in the NHL is one of the hardest jobs in the world. Is Ozzie as good as he was 2 years ago, No! But I would take him as a backup any day with his resume!!

There's a reason the guy has only played 72 games in his NHL career. Might I also add he's won just 18 of those starts with a 3.30 GAA. Clearly better than that bum approaching 400 career wins.

No idea, but it took MacDonald 13 years in hockey to even make 72 NHL starts. If Joey was truly better right now, why wouldn't the coaching staff have gone with him the past two games instead of Ozzie? It's not like Babcock has an issue letting Ozzie sit on the bench.

Back in 2007 when most of us were saying "Give Joey time, he'll become a decent goalie", the rest of the board wanted him traded for a bag of chips because he wasnt getting wins. Now a couple years later everyone thinks he's great cuz he shutout the Wings once. That's fine, I just don't agree that MacDonald is better than Ozzie right now and I don't think many people here do either. I was with ya till the bolded. I haven't seen one strong period. Staunch Ozzie supporters seem to use the word 'strong' very loosely. I've seen a few decent periods. I'll give him that.

Regardless of what people think, if Osgood is healthy, he is the backup this year. The Wings are not calling up an obvious career AHLer unless there are injuries to deal with.

Osgood did a great job against the preds. I really don't get why everyone hates him when he's still preforming. No he's not old and washed up yet. I've seen atleast two great performances by him this season so far. Seriously? Macdonald is better? What are you guys thinking?
