Trade proposal

If Hudler does not pick it up I would hope they trade him. No reason to have a guy eating that much cap space and not performing, get a pick for him and be done with him.

.... 9GP.

It'll probably take something drastic to snap them out of it, but it'll happen eventually.

I'm thinking an injury or something that bumps Hudler or Modano up to the 2nd line. That could get them going and carrying over when they go back to the third line.

What makes you think Jersey would trade Clarkson so easily for some underachievers?

He does his job very well and has some skill to boot.

Also, Hudler wouldn't exactly be on their top line.

New Jersey is in shambles thats what, not saying they would for sure or anything but it could help both teams.

And I wouldn't mind seeing him traded sooner then later because Huds still probably considered a 50 point guy but if he keeps playing like this he'll have no value

through 8 games played, he has 3 points and is a -6..i realize its early..not on pace for the 50/60 points everyone was guaranteeing around here not too long ago..Clarkson is exactly what we need. Hard hitter, not afraid of anyone, and he brings a bit of an offensive presence. Ive been hoping kenny would ****** this guy ever since his rookie season.

If you're going to complain about Hudler's 8 games, 0-3-3 and -6 then you have to look at the fact that:

Clarkson: 14 GP, 1-1-2, -8

Since we're going nuts over these numbers, let's put them in the context of a full season:

Hudler: 0-31-31, -61

Clarkson: 6-6-12, -47

Based on the small sample we have, I don't think you can really call Clarkson's output "offensive presence" so far this season. Now can we get back to reality and not make ridiculous trade proposals to trade players just because we don't like them?

folks get the facts straight... Happy chased the tax-free cash to the KHL. that well has dried, which brought him back scampering here. the only feasible way for him to be moved is either A. some other team trying to dump their similarly cap-hit underachiever or B. a bottom-feeder team with gobs of capspace looking for some offence.

And to put things into context: Clarkson is playing on a team where Ilya Kovalchuk, one of the most elite scorers in the league has been a healthy scratch this season because their team in general is playing horrible. Hudler is playing on a team that has won 5 of its last 6 games, every line except his looks terrific and as soon as he was taken off his line it played great.

On top of that, Clarkson or a player like him provides more then just powerplay offense, which is what Hudler seems only good for after fleeing to rush and leaving his team.

Oh and to top it all off, Clarkson is a Babcock kind of player and wouldn't be stuck in the doghouse all the time.

Do you really want a 2.8 million dollar healthy scratch all season?

I would part with hudler, kindl, and one of helm, abby to get lucic here

anyone see what he did to kaleta?

clarkson would be nice though, him and hudler make roughly the same amount. hudler and miller for clarkson and leblond would be nice :)

z/d/h

mule/fill/bert

modano/abby/cleary

clarkson/helm/leblond

draper

what an amazing team that would be to watch, beat teams with loads of skill and fists.

The thing is, It's kind of hard to get any mojo going when you are put in the doghouse just because you exist. Hudler has never been given a real chance to play by Babcock, and the only talented linemate he's ever had any significant amount of time with is Filppula. Swapping Hudler and Bertuzzi is the perfect solution for any line issues, because Hudler and Filppula have real chemistry that has shown itself over multiple seasons. However, it's more likely we'll get to watch a rotating third line or the whole thing will be blown up if the team loses three or four in a row.

The thing about Bert is he fills a net front type role when he needs to and has size. He's good down low and in the corners and can help get the puck to a sniper like Franzen. You actually think breaking up our second line that have been on a tear is a good idea just to hopefully get Hudler going?

Hudler is playing with guys that are good enough that if he is that good he could produce. Fact of the matter is he has became lazy, is still small and extremely weak. Another Abdelkader type guy on this team would be a lot better then that 5'7 lazy midget.

When Abby is on a line its much more energetic and if there isn't a scoring chance he is at least banging some bodies and creating energy. If Hudler isnt producing he is playing lazily defensively and getting laid out

So you're saying the reason Bertuzzi works on the second line is that he's good at getting the puck to Franzen, and the thing about Hudler that's bad on the third line is that he's small?

Sounds like swapping the two would be a perfect fit then, wouldn't it?

Logic, people.

trading a 50+ point guy for a 30 point agitator? ya this is serious and won't turn into an enforcer vs no enforcer debate

:hysterical: Piddler will be lucky, LUCKY if he gets 25 points this year... He had 1 good season, he has stunk it up in Russia and here since, just because he had 50+ points one year doesn't mean he is great. Hell, Jimmy Carson twice had over 100 points, and we all know how that ended up... (at least he got us Paul Coffey, who in turn got us Shanahan)

edit: and PLEASE stop with the BFF line! WTF? is this facebook or something? The only BFF's in the NHL are Gary Bettman and Cindy Lee Crosby...

edit again: Trade Piddler for a draft pick so when Draper comes back he'll take his place in the press box PLUS we'll still have cap relief for injuries! Holland is thanking his gramma that Piddler didn't accept the $3.5M contract he offered him! Dump the $2.8M loser!

No im saying stop riding hudlers balls for a second like you have the last 5 years.

Bert and Franzen have chemistry, and theyve had it since last years playoffs... maybe if Hudler didnt screw off to MOscow Dynamo he could've been the one building chemistry with Franzen. How do you think Hudler would be the perfect for a role where youre getting pucks in the corners and down low when Hudler can't get within 10 feet of the corners without being on his ass?

Just because you love small skilled players doesnt mean we should be changing the chemistry of the best line on our team the first several games to make him hopefully produce just because he needs to ride on the coattails of others.

Logic Eva.

Get this f***** outta town. Hes a damn bum. no way in hell he's gonna score 50 points, let alone 70, like so many people predicted. Pretty sure I was called a dumbass for thinking otherwise in the offseason.

...well "dumbass" is nothing compared to what I have been called (and -'d to death) for saying negative stuff about him since he has been associated with the Wings. The guy couldn't even make his Olympic squad last year...Useless waste of $2.8M! I would've rather had Samuelsson back at the $2.5M he signed for in Vancouver. At least he scored the big goal when a spark was needed!
